Forums - Nintendo - Platinum is considering being a Second Party for Nintendo.

Second Party? Nintendo what are you thinking about? You should had bought them long ago. This are the kind of studios Nintendo needs to have another kind of games in their platforms.

@bolded: I agree. I always wondered why Nintendo didn't maintain a close relationship with Silicon Knights after Eternal Darkness, but then I learned more about Dyack...

Platinum, on the other hand, is a much better fit for Nintendo.

And for all of those people puzzled as to why either party would be interested after the poor sales of The Wonderful 101, just ponder for a moment how well a proper Star Fox could turn out with Platinum at the helm. I seriously doubt that game would bomb.

They already are, even though it's a made up term. They're a third party developer who occasionally makes first party games for Nintendo.

I really have no idea what this article is trying to say. Do they mean first-party?

Actually, now that I've read the article, the title of this thread is misleading.

lol, people misuse the term 2nd Party all the time. Hell i just heard an IGN Nintendo guy call Retro 2nd Party Developers... WTF, is Nintendo EAD 2nd Party aswell now?? yeah people are stupid

well apparently it does to the other Sony and MS dudes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkUBfD5SCqU

you know you're doing things right when the entire MS and Sony communities on the internet switch their gears to "Maximum Butthurt" mode.

No.  Bayonetta was not a hit and only reached its current sales at bargain bin prices.  It really doesn't have many fans.

watch the video.

A dozen people or so.  Clearly the same as all the owners of 150m+ consoles.

From what I remember, I recall reading threads here where I saw more people talk about the complaining than I saw of actual complaining.  In my opinion, I think people just wanted to sensationalize the extreme responses of a few to make it seem bigger than it really was.  I'm a Bayonetta fan, and while I was a bit surprised that the sequel was an exclusive, I was just happy to see it getting made.

On topic, IF (big if) Platinum becoming more of an exclusive developer for Nintendo helped to increase their games exposure, than I think it would be great.  While I didn't think Wonderful 101 would set the world on fire, I'm disappointed that the Wii U user base didn't support it as much as I thought it would, as it really looked like a game that the fanbase could have enjoyed, and thus, I'm not certain such a partnership would be in either companies' best interests.

did you expect the video to have 150 million responses from 150 million people? -.-

Boils down to how much money Nintendo want to bleed for funding 5k hit wonders.

This would literally make my year.

Thanks to both of you, good guys. I was forgetting about Capcom. Maybe Nintendo should announce a collaboration with Capcom to develop a third game with Platinum Games: Okami 2 Wii U.

Is this guy serious? How can he see his future with Nintendo when he's just made the bomba of the year?

They have to unveil projects for other consoles ASAP. They have people waiting for their games outside the Nintendo world. Why can't they understand that!? It hurts so much to read things like that...

You've been harping on Wonderful 101's sales long enough. This is your warning.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Are they not second party already?

edit: Pokoko beat me to it.

Very nice news!

It's not, though, as there not even a slight confirmation of it (them being 100% exclusive to Nintendo, 2nd party doesn't mean that). In fact, I'm taking the 100% pessissimstic road and say that isn't happenin'.

So the news is that PG wants to be 2nd party, not that they are 2nd party.

That may be good news to him.
