That's what the games are for. Maybe not immediately after the price cut but when Zelda WW, Mario, DKC, Wii U party and some other tittles release, then people will have a reason to buy the console. 

OT: I'm going to be pessimistic on this one and say around 60k. I do expect big numbers during the holidays but not really that big before that.

I doubt the price cut will make much difference. Retailers have been making steeper cuts than that for quite some time now.

Now, all the steady software launches that the Wii U has been getting...

It will sell about as much as an almost 8 year old 360 does in that week.

I think you're being pretty optimistic...

I'll say forty thousand...

A month later I think it will make a much bigger difference...

90-100k. But it's really hard to tell if Zelda will sell alot of consoles especially since GTA V will release that week and retailers will most likely advert that alot. But this price drop will help the Holiday sales a bit atleast.

Zelda releases 2 weeks after the price drop.

I say 70k WW, I don't think price was the issue. I think HW sales will creep up to 40/50k by September and this will add another 20K.

I mean, wasn't the old WiiU 8GB sold for $299 previously? I don't see a $249 8GB model, I think they dropped it.
