Objectively Vaan, it is not a matter of opinions. :/

He was nobody in his own game, you cloud just remove him and the story would pretty much stays the same.

I never played FFXII, but that's the exact same thing my brother said about Vaan. I guess I'd have to choose him after my first choice of Lightning.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Lightning is just a bootleg Cloud with short shorts, Squall's gun blade, and a vagina. So her.

Considering that completely one-dimensional and annoying attitude, completely lacking anything feminine, she's...

1) Not Cloud at all. He had more than one dimension, and you could relate to him, at least a little.

2) Not necessarily a woman. Sex scene or I don't believe it. Do it SE, there's still time before XIII-3. Or make it DLC - the DLC with the biggest attach ratio ever.

Lightning was such a bitch for no reason

The silent/ introvert protagonist FF is famous for backfired. On paper Lightning was supposed to be the group's spiritual leader who held the party together as a group, but in practice she has zero presence in most of the cutscenes that did not revolve around her specific character arc...because she's introverted. For most intents and purposes, Snow is the party leader simply because he has the charismatic presence and Light is a support character.

That, and...

The end of the game is Fang and Vanille doing their own thing, which is exactly what Light *didn't* want them to do. Wonderful job getting things to work out your way, leader.

This is basically the reverse in Duodecim. With Kain off doing his own thing and Laguna being a comic relief moron, she's pretty much the only person who *can* be a leader. Parenthetically, Duodecim also made it clear she was an inexperienced and clumsy leader. Her manners throughout the game are curt and awkward, and close to the end of the game she just about has a break-down because of Vaan.

Shame they didn't voice over that exchange, really.

I was reading a FFIX walktrough in a game magazine before I ever played any FF game. A character named "Zidane" is quite cool to a 9 y/o boy

Yet for some reason Square decided to change Zidane's name to Yitan in the spanish version (and a few months after FF IX's release in Europe Zidane signed a contract with Real Madrid). And Freya to Freija and Dagger to Daga, but that made sense because daga = dagger in spanish.

Vaan, based on screenshots alone.

Lol... too bad.. a Zidane around in Real would give the game quite the word of mouth.. ha
