This is plausible. Sony has increased their expertise in delivering hardware lately ever since their recovery in the mobile market where you need to have not only great products but also produced fast because of competition. I remember when Sony needed 6 months for introduction to actual release of a phone a couple of years ago and that has completely disappeared. Also on other hardware markets they are really improving. And when we look at all the info we got there can only be one conclusion. Sony did their homework with the PS4

Only 2 obvious consoles. A Vita redisign at a cheaper price, or the PS4. I'd reckon we will find out at Sony's Gamescom press conference.

I think this would be a pretty good release date, all the reports are saying a December release so I wouldn't mind at all

It's been pushed up 8 days. A month or so ago every credible source was October 29th. Excellent.

Seems plausible, but it's mid August. Sony will just tell us soon...so I will wait for the official announcement if you don't mind.
