Pity, so only rich people can be core gamers... :

That's why it is the core and not the masses.

This is definitely the first time someone says I'm not a core gamer. But by your definition, I see it's no wonder why publishers don't care about core gamers anymore. There's not that many of them.

I don't say my definition is the one and only but it seems to bother you to be not considered as a core-gamer. Why?

Sensible move really. They still make it an auto-buy so it has a 100% attach rate which is really what's needed to maximise developer support.

I am really looking forward to what devs will do with kinect. It could be useless like ds-second-screen, ds-micro, ds-pen, ps-move and so on, however.

Relax, everyone. We should be happy instead for those who didn't want Kinect (now you don't need to plug it in) and for those who do want Kinect since it is still included in the box. Everyone's winning!

My exact thoughts.

My biggest concern was having to replace the Kinect if it breaks. That would be a huge pain in the ass for users who don't care for it at all.

Could there be a kinect free version of Xbox One coming at a similar price to PS4? That could make things really interesting

and the death of the XBox division.  they'll never be able to recoup r&d losses from the new kinect on the shelf.

Well if it's true what they say that Kinect 2.0 is almost as much as the console itself, then they would make a big profit on each console sold for 399 without Kinect. Much faster way to recoup those r&d losses.
Although now you don't need it for the xbox one to work, you can put the Kinect 2.0 sensor for $200 on Ebay for PC enthusiasts right? Your xbox one would only be $299

Isn't that cute, he judges peoples gamer status, just because he doesn't agree with them. This might be hard for you to believe but I wouldn't judge you. I'd say everyone on this site who is willing to talk about one of their favorite hobbies is an avid gamer.

What judgement? I have a definition of a *core* gamer in my mind and you don't fit. Nothing to be upset about, Stage.

This is interesting, what is a "core" gamer in your subjective opinion? A core gamer is basically a hobbyist or avid gamer. Many people on this website fit the bill. I mean...unless people talk more than they game and I am sure a lot of us have jobs.

To me a core-gamer is especially interested in just the games and not on which platform the games are released, not to mention that he of course owns all major consoles to not miss the good games. Also I think a core-gamer is an open-minded person who also wants to try new things in gaming, to enrich his gaming-experience and who is not talking sh** on things before he experiences it himself.

you are not a core gamer then ?

"open-minded person who also wants to try new things in gaming, to enrich his gaming-experience and who is not talking sh** on things before he experiences it himself."

i see you everytime bitching in ps section of the forum about graphics of ps4 games that you didnt experience and games that are in development.

I am not always bitching and when I do, I can prove my points because we have actual footage of the games. I am not talking about how much fun they will be because I haven't played them but really, Deep Down(grade) looked way too good back in Feb and the recent trailer showed very bad graphics. You see the difference in these points?

And no, nowadays I am not a core-gamer anymore, and I have no problem with that.

Great news here for those that don't care for Kinect I guess. Doesn't really change anything for me.

Even if they split the sku's and did a kinectless version for $399 or less, I am sticking with the bundle version.

Kinect has its uses, and I have some hope they can turn it into a thing this gen. Even if it is a complete failure it still if nothing else makes dance games much better without the need to hold a remote.

Good luck with that hope. They'll get more out of the smart glass than they did with Kinect. :)

Perhaps ... at least they will get more out of it than Sony will out of the Playstation 4 "I can't believe it's not Kinect" Camera.... I kid I kid relax you had it coming for that  : )

Smart glass may actually become a thing though with them finally attempting to put it into games in a meaningful way ... at least with Deadrising 3 if nothing else. It could just end up being something they try at launch and abandon though.

Sonys already gotten more out of the move/eyetoy combo than MS has ever done with the Kinect, their biggest issue is that their support sucks terribly. The Eyetoy is the predecessor to Kinect in the gaming industry for motion gaming and Sony ruled out that the camera by itself  could not do very much except for read the body but not take it into a 3D realm and properly control the character through the world they are in. This is why after they created the Eyetoy R&D worked on the Move in 2004.

As for the Smart Glass, yeah, its seems everyones investing heavily into tablets. Nintendo has already put it in their controller, Sony has their own tablet and MS has their and is working as a third party on other brands items. Dead Rising isn't really a reliable franchise to air the amazing nature of the Smart Glass, but its a start. The franchise is ok, but nothing major. If they can use the Smart Glass or the Kinect to make the game more than it is instead of easier that will give the franchise a totally different spirit because while its a good game it can get quite repetitive.

This post got it all!

"EyeToy is the predecessor of Kinect"
"Sony stopped supporting it, because you can't do much with it"
"PS Move was in development 2 years before the Wii was released"

Reality:

Kinect outsold EyeToy 3:1.
The PS Move did not sell at all. The Userbase is less than 5 million, even though Sony advertised this as a device that would change everything.
The Wii established Motion Controls. Period. It worked out great for Big N.

You really have to give other companies credit for the things they achieved. Nintendo for establishing Motion Controls for example or Microsoft for pushing online gaming on consoles more than anyone else... Try it, it won't hurt you.

See, I'll go first: Sony did a great job to push their new formats with their consoles.

Lol, your so wrong it hurts.

The NSA will be pissed.

Good for the Xbone, but still not an exciting announcement.

This restriction shouldn't have been there in the first place.
