Forums - Gaming - You're a fan of Pokemon and despise Call of Duty? You're a hypocrite. Congratulations!

If you mean pair games, each one has exclusives, YOUR NOT FORCE TO BY BOTH, so wats the big deal?

Complaining about such petty things means your either mad about pokemon sales being high or COD being talked bad about?

Great timing btw, since Japan is killing the charts with pokemon, its kind of ironic you make a thread sooon after lol

Aaaah, people are already pretending they didn't understand my point. It's not a matter of "pokemon doesn't release every year" or "Ruby/Sapphire is different from X/Y"

Red and Blue are the same game. Gold and Silver are the same game. Ruby and Sapphire are the same game, and so on. They release on the same game. People buy both of them and are perfectly fine with it. But to buy Modern Warfare today and Black Ops one year later is a terrible, terrible thing, as you're supporting copy-and-paste game development.

But it's Nintendo. They can do it with all of their franchises.. They're innovators after all.

Since Pokémon isn't released every year, Nintendo can easily get away with it. Not exactly the same case with CoD. And Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, etc., aren't exactly the same game. Each game version of one generation has(just a few) different Pokémon to capture. Isn't that exactly what happens with CoD, except that instead of new Pokémon, you have(just a few) new multiplayer maps?

They are exactly the same game, yes. A few different Pokemon does not qualify as "different games".

And Call of Duty has completely different campaigns for each title. And every now and then, I go and play some CoD splitscreen with my friends. The difference is pretty noticeable. Like I said, whether you like it or not, they are different.

If they were exactly the same game, then why one version has Pokémon the other doesn't? If that doesn't qualify as different games, how do a few new multiplayer maps do? Since CoD is mainly bought for the multiplayer part of it, I find it fair to ignore the campaign differences so can I easily win this argument.

Main complaint of Cod is that the multiplayer isn't balanced.  Also Cod comes out every year and pokemon games come out every 3 or 4 years.

So the point of the OP is that Pokemon is bad because Nintendo releases 2 versions? How many people, besides die-hard fans, actually buy both versions? The games are meant to be played socially; you're supposed to trade with your friends to catch all Pokemon, not buy both versions yourself. :/ And no-one's claiming the 2 versions differ greatly.

It's not like Nintendo are saying 'hey, here are 2 TOTALLY different games that are NOTHING alike! You have to buy both!' In fact, quite the opposite; throughout the years they've always been stressing the multiplayer aspects of Pokemon, and encouraging players to play together with friends who own the other version to complete the experience.

From the OFFICIAL Pokemon website: 'To obtain every Pokémon, you'll need to trade with other players!' - http://www.pokemonxy.com/en-us/pokemon_101/game_exclusive/

OP fail, but nice try.

The only time Pokemon even came close to COD release times was Black and White 2. That was the first sequel. I don't count the remakes. Those are just done for people who really wanted the older games updated with the newer mechanic's. Besides, even with all the remakes, 3rd versions. They put a hell of a lot more stuff into the games to warrant $40. COD is new map packs and a junk SP game every time. I doubt people would be complaining about yearly releases, if the team could actually make a 20 hr SP game that's worth it.

No one, that's why this thread is so bad.

your argument makes no sense
Pkmn has two version but ppl only buy one 99% of the time
has nothing to do with CoDs weak value as a franchise

I would accept this if you said Mario or something. Not really pokemon though.

mario releases less oftem than pokemon.

You're not supposed to buy both versions of Pokemon. You pick one, and you are getting pretty much the same game as if you had picked the other.

That is far from the same thing as releasing an entirely new game every year with minimal changes. For all intents and purposes, Red and Blue are one game; Gold and Silver are one game; and so on.

Yep, every 3 to 4 years.

gen 1: 1996       gen 2: 1999     gen3: 2002     gen4: 2006    gen5: 2010     gen6: 2013

correct, every 3 to 4 years.
