They are both completely different games but if you haven't even started layton just start with hatsworth since it only has a single game out.
More games to recommend: Tetris DS is imo the most definative version of the game I have ever played. Meteos, just get Meteos, videos don't do this puzzle game justice.
N+ is pure platforming though for some it gets old very fast.
If you like endless runners and improving your high score then go get Yoshi touch and go (amazing multiplayer by the way.)
I don't know if you would like the CING games (Trace Memory, Hotel Dusk) since I bearly even liked them (you might like it a little if you like 999.)
Chibi-Robo Park Patrol is more semi-relaxing garden management simulator that is fun in theory , but I got bored of it fast. (ok game though)
Warioware touched is fun warioware(not as good as twisted.)
and to end it , you said you don't like contact. Don't get it. It is only worth it if you stick it out to the very end and even then people complained how it ended but thought it was good.
Glad you are getting AI that game is great.

I have the original Tetris, I'm good for that.
Meteos is good, I'm not sure if I have it, I may have it at my parents. I love that game too, but I wouldn't buy it now because I've played the crap out of it already
Someone recommended Hotel Dusk in a PM, I'll look into Trace memory too. It might be too much though, I do want to start investing in 3DS games. I might add this on a "To Buy List" and only get them when I'm caught up on handheld games and want something else.
WarioWare and CRPP aren't my types of games

I know you'll like this one... Someone suggested this one on this site when I bought a DS again and I loved it...
Heroes of Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
I was also interested in Panzer Tactics but I haven't gotten it yet. It got average reviews but if you like TBS games then it would probably be an above average game. I used to be a big fan of the first Panzer General on PC so this game always interested me. I'll pick it up some day. It might not be as good as Advance Wars but the WW2 setting and nostalgic factor probably weigh heavy on me.

I'd rather get Age of Empires then Panzer Tactics, I've played both. Panzer Tactics is meh, Age of Empires is pretty decent, but I'm not a fan of the theme, and the plot is thin.
I'll look into Might and Magic, problem is, if I like a game, I want to get the whole series, and M&M is a big series with some great, and some not so great games.

I played that game for 3 hours, tried to like it, but I just don't. I don't like modern era/emo/ whatever you call it JRPG's (SMT falls in the same category).
I never played Pheonix Wright, or Professor Layton....guess I should try out those games too. Which one should I try first, to judge the series?
As for Etrain Odyssey, I don't like Dungeon Crawlers. The only DC I ever enjoyed was Soul Blazer for the SNES.

You're basically missing out on some of the DS's best RPGs if you don't want to continue TWEWY or play any of the SMT games (though if you don't like dungeon crawlers then Strange Journey is probably not for you, though I don't play many "dungeon crawlers" and I found SJ to be pretty good. Also Devil Survivor has a better version on the 3DS and Devil Survivor 2 is getting one as well). Any particular reason you don't like modern ("emo" isn't even a descriptor for these games) RPGs?

That's what everyone says. I dunno why I don't like them, I've given these games a really effort, I played 8 hours of Persona 3, and afterwards I just wanted to throw the game out the window. I think in general, I don't like randomly generated dungeons, especially when every hallways looks the same, I like well planned out area's, and many Dungeon Crawlers have critical flaws which I hate. E.g. Persona 3's critical flaw for me was bad design in the dungeons. I guess I'm pretty good in the game because I often go up 10 levels at a time, and reach that cut-off point, where I have to wait for the story to catch up. It's the most annoying thing in the world playing a weeks worth of high school story, and I can't even make my female character a w**re. I wasn't all goodie two shoes in high school. So repetative gameplay, cut off points in dungeons, and a school system which I just hate. I've tried others too, I only like 1, Soul Blazer for the SNES.
Soul Blazer, while a randomly generated dungeon crawler, was very interesting, and each earea was very unique. That's why I like this one specific game.

Pass and Pass. I've seen both those games before, and played C.O.R.E. I only really like futuristic sci-fi shooters, I think Moon and Metroid are good enough for me on the DS. Plus you get a hand cramp with these games on the DS.

I've thought about Okamiden, but I decided to pass. I still haven't beaten Zelda's for DS, nor Okami for Wii, and I'm not really a huge fan of Action Adventure games. Plus I hear Okamiden is easy, something I want to avoid.

I tried them before, but I don't like them. They feel targeted towards a younger age group. Mainline Pokemon games are just quality RPG's with a well made and diverse battle system.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've got a few good mystery games to check out. I never thought I would get games like this, I thought I would just go JRPG all the way, but DS really offers a lot.
