I know you'll like this one... Someone suggested this one on this site when I bought a DS again and I loved it...
Heroes of Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
I was also interested in Panzer Tactics but I haven't gotten it yet. It got average reviews but if you like TBS games then it would probably be an above average game. I used to be a big fan of the first Panzer General on PC so this game always interested me. I'll pick it up some day. It might not be as good as Advance Wars but the WW2 setting and nostalgic factor probably weigh heavy on me.
