Forums - Nintendo - [edit]Wonderful 101, why are so many people saying its racist?

Is it racist?

No! 151 84.36%

yea, a little 28 15.64%

Total:179

When something, how small it may be, has something, in the slightest, to do with black people, there are always people complaining about racism (especially black people themselves). Of course it isn't a problem when black people emphasize white people about being white. That is HUMOR!

Why is "America" even part of this discussion since its a Japanese company who made a game in Japan? I also think its common knowledge that the Japanese are a bit racists against them blacks. As an American, I think its fully understandable... just sayin'.

Because its the internet, anonymity means you can glance at something, make a wild assumption and blow things out of proportion beyond what is reasonable, even when information like the character actually being Indian (from India) is readily available.

If we(the reasonable) understand that this issue is not properly addressed or badly labeled, then we should not contribute to its explosion to ignorance.

People are oversensitive crybabies.

Wonder Black is not even black. He's Indian. Don't see the big deal here. Its racist only if you want it to be racist.

If people are going to complain about something, complain about the fact that there's no representatives from South America, Africa, Australia, or the Middle East. Saying it's "racist" because a darker-skinned character is "Wonder Black" is just absurd.

EDIT: Just because I know some will over-react to this comment - I'm not saying that the game is bad, or there is any real problem, with the lack of proper variation in ethnic origins in the game. It's more of an observation of the gaming industry in general, and beyond that, an observation of relative scale of issues - associating darker skin with "black" is minor compared with ignoring half of the world's population.

People are too sensitive. I played the Demo of this game and it was fun, I am going to buy it.

I'm tired of all the people who are so quick to call racism on these things. So I guess it's also racist if a show features nothing but white/black/asian people? Is it also racist to have the Asian guy have an accent? Seriously ridiculous. If someone's going to be offended over THIS, they should just quit gaming, because racism will be everywhere with that attitude.

But he is from India...
