Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One’s Game Recording Features Restricted To Xbox Live Gold Members

I don't see the big deal honestly. I mean if I'm trying to record some gameplay I am most likely looking to post it or use it online. If they back it up on their servers for me all the better.

This is not a surprise and Live is far superior service.

No it isn't.

For social interactions and the ability to rank / set preferences on other gamers, yes it is far superior. Not to mention this whole "hall monitor" thing going on with the x1 as well.

Again, no it isn't. But if you feel that way, what ever helps you sleep at night. Have fun with you x1.

Why would you buy a next gen console and not have a Gold account or PSN+? If you really are that anti-social and never play online sharing videos wouldn't be something that interests you in the first place. Once again more whining for no reason from people not interested in buying the Xbox One in the first place.

Could not have said it better myself. Almost no one commenting here was planning to buy it anyways.

Everyone just needs to accept that paywalls are a thing ... even Sony does it which is a much greater scandal than anything that has come out about Xbox One recently considering that "free online" was the battle cry of the PS3.

Microsoft has a paywall. Sony has a paywall. Nintendo will have a paywall soon.

Really you guys?

Microsoft announced that as long as one person on the xbone has gold, everyone can play online on that system. That meant I could just have a family GOLD account and still play online on my personal account.

Now you guys are arguing that every player on a system should pay for GOLD, even when all but one can already play online without it? You're so wrong it's almost comical. This has nothing to do with being anti-social or not wanting an xbox one.

We are not arguing that every player should have Gold ... we are just saying that the kind of player that will use this feature will 10/10 times have a Gold account already so people are complaining over something incredibly trivial.

There was also some justifiable scorn towards posters on here (often with giant sigs that feature Sony games/products) complaining about this feature that they will never use, because their next gen console choice is clear.

I don't make it my mission to go into threads about the PS4 just to bash them ... especially when I have no intention of buying a PS4 anytime soon if ever.

1. I don't have GOLD on my account yet I want this feature. Bam you're wrong.

2. Does a person's love for a different system automatically make what they post worthless?

3. So you're saying the people upset about this have a mission to go into xbone threads just to bash them?

well it's clearly because of your sig made completely of Sony Kaz hirai gifs and I think in one of them there is a guy actually making love to the dvd tray of a ps3? that was a bit much! Really annoying at this stage when you can't raise any concerns about a console you were looking forwards to because you've immediately been a playstation fanboy for years.

The point is that it would seem they are clearly not looking forward to the console regardless of this feature ...

Take my sig for example. I show my Xbox gamerscore and it is (somewhat) high. Without looking at my post history, take a wild guess which next gen console I am looking forward to. If someone has a Playstation Nation banner on their sig, a gif showing a PS4 erasing a Xbox One, their trophy card ect. ect. then I don't think it is unreasonable for me to assume they are probably interested in a PS4 over say a Xbox One or Wii U.

It would be like if I walked into your house/apartment/whatever and I saw a bunch of Call of Duty posters on your wall. One would assume you like the game. Now there may be other reasons for you to have them on your wall, but that would be the first thing to come to mind.

I am not saying that they can not have a valid point even if they don't plan to get an Xbox One. What I am saying is that it is petty, and completely unecessary to act as though this is a major drawback for Xbox One or to say Microsoft is greedy and terrible ect. This policy affects virtually no one, and the people who seem to be most vocal about it are the ones who would never use it in the first place. That is all I am saying.

I do obviously know there are some people who do just pop up in all of these threads and claim they were going to buy 10 box ones until they found out it was going to be the colour it is and now they hate it.... I do understand these people exist, but I'm going to post something I've put in a few threads at this stage now but yeah http://i.imgur.com/d7F9ips.jpg that's my wall o games from the last 2 gens, with the majority of my 360 stuff on it, that was taken slightly before E3 and the two games in the very top right are actually on loan from a friend along with his system, Since the reveal I have got my own Ps3 but if you can look at that and claim that I had no interest in getting an Xboxone before the reveal of all the shite at E3 and all the bad press from both Nelson and Don M then I'm just lost here.

I'm not just a collector btw feel free to add Stormcloudlive on Xbla I think I'm 1 achievement point under 37k thanks to goddamn rockband 3 giving an achievement worth 4 pts!!

Like I said tho, I really do understand that there are those who troll bad news, but please understand there are also people who were dying for the reveal to be amazing, the Xbox720 that would literally send Sony's heads spinning, but for me personnally I felt only the fans were feeling as tho we were getting spun around by the X1.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

This doesn't really surprise me, at all. But, hey, why shouldn't they? Xbox fans will just make excuses for it and continue to support this business model. They have been doing so since the release of the 360.

$99 for a Wi-Fi Adapter, when Wi-Fi was cheap enough to include in the PS3 and the Wii. HDDs had to be purchased from MS, and for ridiculous prices. $179 for 120GB, when you could get a 500GB laptop HDD for cheaper. They even skimped on the DVD drive, which would scratch discs if you so much moved the console, even if barely. Many things the PS3 and Wii offered free access to, like Netflix, Youtube, and the web browser, MS threw behind a paywall. Heck, many even excused a 33%-50% failrate, just cause it let their guys get out the gate a year and some change earlier than the competition.

So, this gen is no different. The controller still uses AA batteries. You have to pay extra for a recharge kit, just so MS can make some extra money on it. More apps and features are going to be shoved behind a paywall, as well, but still be advertised like they are accessible to everyone. And I'm sure some of the same people who excused RROD excused the DRM fiasco, claiming it was only Sony fanboys who were making a fuss. Preorders say otherwise.

Fortunately for consumers, this time around they don't have to wait over a year for another option to be available. And I think preorders are showing who's business model is winning more gamers over.

another reason ps4 is better...

just get the ps4 already...

They really didnt learned the lesson.

End of 2011 (made 02/01/11)
Wii: 99.453 m
Xbox 360: 67.837 m
Ps 3: 60.726 m

Best Games/Serie of the Generation

I thought I'd read that the "DVR" feature uses the cloud? So why is MS not going to make that a Gold feature?

Fixed.

Or do you know what the service is like on the PS4 or the Xbox One?

Well. In Australia live is a superior service over PSN, that's not opinion.
Microsoft has far more servers here allowing for lower latencies and higher throughput and peering arangements with allot of internet providers to allow the data transferred over Xbox live to not be counted towards your monthly data limit.

Granted, that's the actual service, whether Xbox Live! is superior to the Playstation Network will change depending on the region you live in and the internet provider you are with to the type of internet connection you are using.

The content each service has to offer however, is an entirely different kettle of fish.

The PSN network still has a long way to go to catch up to Steam and Xbox live in my opinion in regards to the more technical aspects.

Yea!
