Do you prefer to play as a male or a female ?

Female 76 29.80%

Male 111 43.53%

I'm a transgender and find it offensive 8 3.14%

I like boobs 60 23.53%

Total:255

It depends if it's a game where there's a lot of romancing subplots particularly where it's pushed by the player, like persona, mass effect, dragon age then male as it's just akward for me being suggestive to a guy as a girl. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

If it's a game where I get to play Dress up it becomes the barbie doll I never had, Female clothes more ridiculous, or prettier. Skyrim, FFX-2, Fallout New Vegas then female, Unless you can be fat, then dressing up a male is better GTA:SA!

If it's got neither then IDC. IE the new tomb raider and the longest journey are female but I wouldn't care if they were male. Deus Ex, Far Cry, Assassins Creed I wouldn't care if they were female.

When I have a choice, I usually pick male. But not always.

I never, ever, choose female characters in a MMO game. (again, when I have a choice. if I like a female-only class I'll pick it) This is because MMOs are so full of immature kids. If you've played one like WoW, you know what I mean.

I chose male in the poll, but only because if given a choice in a game I will generally use a male character first (if there are multiples to choose from or a method of creating the look/personality I will probably try to find/create one I identify with)

If it's something like an RPG or adventure game though and I deem it good enough to replay I will probably have playthroughs of both male and female leads.

In a game where I don't have a choice it doesn't make any difference to me while playing... I certainly wouldn't say no to a game due to a female protagonist.

I always play as female if I'm given the option.
Unless the females of that race are really, really... Trust me you don't want to play as a dwarf female

Both :/

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

OMG U HAVE BOOBZ PLZ BE MY FRIEND.

If there is an option, I usually play as a female character for a change of pace. I find it a bit more interesting. Also, a lot of times the female character is the finesse/skill option, which fits with my play-style. I almost never go with brute force characters, male or female.

However, I have zero problems with most main characters being male. None at all. Most console gamers are male and it's a lot easier for some people to identify with their own sex. My mother reads a lot of suspense/mystery novels, for example, and she prefers a female protagonist, especially if they're closer to her age. Because of that, I find the "adolescent male fantasies" criticism absurd. Males and females of all ages like characters they can identify with, it's as simple as that. Bashing guys in particular for that is just low-grade, child-level psychology.

There is also the problem of forcing artists and writers to change a character's sex. It's wrong to do that with female characters but it's also wrong to do that with male characters. We shouldn't be saying, "there needs to be more female characters," we should be saying, "developers shouldn't be pressured one way or the other."

Well, I would have liked the option I don't care. But I did the next best thing. So according to that poll, I'm transgender. I don't care if it's male or female. I currently wouldn't mind more female characters though because every protagonist is a male.

This was the troll/ I don't care answer.

I don't expect many transgender on the forum, only one person out of ten has another sexual identity than his body, and if I remember correctly, one out of a million is a trangender.

Is that accurate? I find it hard to believe.

2-5% here on a slight level : http://www.transgenderlaw.org/resources/transfactsheet.pdf

a lot of datas here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transsexualism#Prevalence

I can't find again the one out of ten figure, but I searched a lot after reading Hourou musuko (Excellent read, not edited in US), and yeah, whoever you are, unless you live in a cave, you're concerned.

FES is 5 dollars on US PSN, I made myself a US account for this.

That and Odin sphere was 5 dollars too.

Already have both and finished Odin Sphere already ;o.

Did you get Disgaea too ?

I didn't get it cause of my saves, but it's a good damn set of JRPGs =D

And did you bother playing as Velvet, Mercedes or What's her name (I seriously can't remember her name)

If its a single player Female.
if its a multiplayer game Male

Reason ,in single player I like to experience something that I do not experience in real life, I also like to act like a female as well , for example in mass effect my shepard is into "Cute guys" instead of being a lesbian. (i am straight by the way)

Reason for multiplayer is that most people who play multiplayer will think I am a girl and then try to hit on me or something like that, and all the horny kids trying to get into my avatar's virtual pants, its not really fun.
