These companies seriously need to stop devaluing their games. What kind of PR response do they expect from this.
Wish them all the best though since they are local developer.

We are talking about offline co-op here, so there are no worries about a competitive advantage for one player or the other. Say it's splitscreen, then the player with the Gamepad gets a map on his screen; no big deal if one player has more information, because the purpose of co-op play is to help each other. Say each player gets their own screen, then things are the same for each player. Allowing different controllers to play a game doesn't take a lot of time to code when we are talking about the Gamepad and the Pro Controller (there are no obligations to make games work with the Wiimote/Nunchuk setup). They are identical, save for the touchscreen. There are no changes to make for button mapping whatsoever. There are no reasons to believe that an offline co-op mode takes a lot of effort to code when it already exists in other versions of the game. |
but then someone is still having more features than the other player. So maybe their isnt an advantage in the sense of competition but its not gonna be the same experience for both players. I could only speak for myself but that doesnt sound like a very good time to me.
clearly their is, because they ran out of time, unless they were attempting something more robust
the other systems dont have the uniqueness of multiple control inputs

1) Let people decide how they want to play. It wouldn't take much effort to offer an equal experience for both players as an option, because, you know, that's how it already works on the other console versions. 2) "We ran out of time." is the diplomatic answer for "We don't care enough.", because it puts neither Ubisoft or Nintendo into a bad light. 3) Yes, but Ubisoft is already making the rest of the game compatible with the Gamepad, so their port already supports multiple control inputs. They would only need to take what is already there and apply it to another game mode. The bottom line is that Ubisoft carries the full responsibility for the lack of offline co-op. It's not in the slightest because of the capabilities and/or design of the Wii U like you insinuate in other posts. |
1. im all for letting people decide how they want to play, BUT i understand that does take time to have implement that many options. Its not how it works on other consoles, because the other ones are only using one controller, their are no options for them.
2. I dont believe that, and you have no proof that is true but then again i have no proof it isnt, im just going to take Ubi on their word, since they seem to be more on the up and up than the others.
3. They could do that, but what of the 2nd player? He would be stuck without the gamepad features, people would complain about that too, but it would be better than nothing. The gamepad doesnt make things easier.

They could just support the pro controller possibly. But also surely they could just ignore the screen on the gamepad maybe and just map the controls in a similar way to the other versions. Also, i would of though use of the gamepad's screen would be no different to developing for DS or 3DS or even just creating a game menu or inventory.

If they dont support the gamepad then peopele would just call them lazy for not doing so. But then local MP would be easier to do. EIther way it was bound to disappoint.
So now suddenly everyone plays offline coop with a friend at home?
if it sell well the offline multiplayer will be added later in a patch
