Forums - Sony - Everquest Next looks like the next best MMO

Hopefully this will release on PS4, looks good to take some market share on the mmo front, especially with WoW losing 600k subs a quarter.

Cannot really kill WoW when it is already dead. Although still healthy numbers by the time this game releases I am pretty sure the sub base will be a lot smaller.

It is dead... only 8 million users paying every month .

And one of the more lucrative per head F2P, wich is quite an achievement

What do you mean?

From what I read on gamasutra, Eve is one of the F2P with the best ARPU (Average revenue per User).

For example, Farmville had a lot of users (2m), an amazing ARPPU (Average Revenue Per Paying User = 50$ if i remember correctly) but an horrible ARPU (0.50$).

It depends on the game and server cost of course, but a good ARPU is 2-5$ a month.

7.7 million actually and losing 600k subs a quarter.

Nothing can compete with WoW right now. I remember the first Everquest and while it wasn't bad it wasn't that good, too. I remember Ultima Online which started it all but have to give credtis for Everquest's 3d. And that's it. Many tried, all failed, and this will, too.

EverQuest was phenomonal!

That being said, it wasnt very accessable to the mainstream because of its brutal difficulty and high learning curve.  It was built for the Hardcore crowd, and the D&D guys - and it did all of that fantastically well.

...uhh...ill just put my favorite quote of all time here.

"Welcome to Pain, the second of three...You have dealt the first...now deal with me!!"

so optimistic.

I highly doubt they'll be able to pull together all those different game styles into one game and make it amazing. I will say that because of the vast number of dynamics in the game, it'll be mediocre at best.

Nothing can compete with WoW right now is right. It's lost almost 2 million players since January.
