He didn't say black neighbors. But I lived in such a neighborhood for four years in South Florida and was never so much as greeted rudely. I even left my car door open...twice, and my neighbors actually closed it for me. For all intents and purposes, I should have been robbed blind or mugged several times over my years there, if they were really that bad in that kind of neighborhood. Thankfully it is not that bad.

Black, White, Hispanic, in the wrong neighberhood getting to know your neighbors is the eaisest way to get your house robbed by a tweaker.

For example anytime anyone in the area i work at gets thrown in jail, the first thing that happens is their is a huge rush to get to their house between those who'd like to rob him, and anyone loyal enough to protect their stuff.

Crime isn't race dependent... it's not really wealth dependent either like you would think.  It's mostly location dependent.   Poor city areas, that's where crime thrives.   Granted Black people do commit an inordinant amount of crimes, but that's because they live in these areas more frequently, it doesn't have anything to do with race.

Comparing cities to states is a losing battle, vast majority of murders happen in cities.  Miami for example is like.... 35 per 1000 I want to say.

Knowing who your neighbors are doesn't mean let them know you.  You can easily look out yoru window and get to know their face at least.  No interaction required.

And if god forbid you actually do get ot know your neighbors, you would hope that you become "friends" in a sense that they would "NOT" rob you.

Knowing your schedule would be super easy.  Lets go stereotyping and be super racists quick, and say that these neighbors are black people sitting on their front stairs drinking cool aid, eating watermelon and getting welfare checks.  Pretty sure its easy enough for them to see you leave every single day at 7:30 and come home at 5:30.  They don't have to know you at all, just your car being gone and it being a week day.

They can know when your gone sure... but not who stays in your house, how regular your schedule is etc....

and again, speaking of where i work... these people are friends.  They still rob each other. 

Hell a lot of the time the person doing the robbing is somebody so trusted/friendly they are staying at the house they rob.
