How exactly do they stand apart from there predeccessors? One has Kinect 2.0 but the original Kinect has lost Iits steam and I dont see many people rushing to get 2.0 for $500. Same goes for the TV features, they are cool but alot of current devices do similar thibgs for much cheaper.

PS4 doesnt really have anything that makes it much diffetent than PS3 except for better visuals. Also both of these consoles will share most of there games with there predeccessors. PS360 will likely have price cuts this year or next so they will be roughly half the price of PS4/One.

You are taking a hardcore gaming stance. It i looked at every console generation objectably then I could have your very same argument. What stood out about the SNES over the NES. Nothing but graphics. It had the same nintendo strategy all the way down to execution but sold better. The reason was simply in the messaging. If I am a casual wii owner that don't follow these gaming sites it is very easy for me to confuse the wii and the wii u. He'll, in my demographic 30 plus many of my associates and colleagues didn't even know until very recent that Nintendo had a new product and even then it wasn't creating the same buzz. The problem don't just lie with differentiating it from the original wii but also from every other touch device. Those casual gamers that in just my opinion can acount for half of all the consoles they sold will not be returning throughout this generation. Nintendo didn't become a leader because they were the best company last gen they did it because they created arp duct that transcended gaming and (not to diss the original wii) but became a fad. Fads create tremendous buzz, blow up quickly, are easily reconizeable, and go away just as fast. They revolutionized motion gaming, but touch thanks to apple and Samsung and a few others is just not that mind blowing. I believe that the wii u will sell decently but they won't see the numbers of last gen again and mark my words. They will announce a new handheld in 2 years and a new console around 3 years from now.

I asked how PS4/One stand out compared to PS360 and u gave a long speech about how Wii wont regain the casual market. I agree with what ur saying but it in no way has anything to do with what were talking about.

Lol @ STAGE, he ask what makes X1/PS4 standout from their predecessors and you reply with a rant about the WiiU not selling like Wii? Wow, do you have anything better to do than bash Ninty lol?

Does this include PS3/360 as well or just 8th gen?

Tis true. Nintendo has no chance, they wasted a good lead. The other next gen consoles are coming and its just going to be like a landslide come November.

I think you're going to see a nice turnaround this holiday. If you look at the lineup that WiiU is going to have this year you personally may not see anything of interest, but from a sales (and investors) standpoint it's looking pretty nice. This (along with 3DS of course) is why Nintendo's stock jumped 4% recently (the highest it's been since 2011) after the last Nintendo Direct.

The reason why many of us think that WiiU will be the biggest selling console in 2014 is because, again, they have many big names releasing coupled with an inevitable price drop. Sony and Microsoft haven't shown any 1st party games that will be able to compete from a sales perspective and those systems will still be at their premium prices at that point.

The massive advantage that PS4/XB1 have is that the 3rd parties are behind them in full force and I do believe that PS4 will sell the most consoles in the long run, but just speaking to 2014 the WiiU certainly has a shot at being the victor, to say the least.

I dunno the PS4/XB1 have plenty of monster franchises that look to be on track for 2014

Madden NFL (next gen Madden)

Destiny (Bungie)

FIFA (next gen FIFA)

Call of Duty (next gen engine)

Battlefield 5

Final Fantasy XV

Metal Gear Solid V

There's bound to be other system specific exclusives too like Titanfall and inFamous and so on.

These are all monstrous releases for the Playstation and XBox audiences, third party tentpoles are what the XBox and Playstation brands are all about, Nintendo fans may scoff at something like Madden, but to a large audience, that game is as important to them as Mario or Zelda is to Nintendo fans.

No offense to the Nintendo list, but right now I'm seeing only two absolutely "monster" releases for the Wii U in 2014 -- Mario Kart and Smash Brothers. Bayonetta and X as much I would love to see them be the top selling games of the year are probably both going to be lucky to manage 800k-1 million worldwide and break even. I think Wii Sports U, if it does manage to ship in 2014 is a tired idea by now.

In terms of "depth" I think the PS4/XB1 will have more 2-3+ million sellers in 2014 than the Wii U will, after Smash + Mario Kart, the list starts to thin out considerably for Nintendo, but that's the downside of not having third party support or maybe more specifically the support of the demographics that buy third party games.

Zorg pretty much answered this already but I'll chime in as well.

I agree there are some heavy hitters there to be sure, but most of those games will be available on four different consoles (and PC in some cases).  That's why I focused on the 1st party affairs in my post.  The big WiiU games coming later this year and in 2014 will only be able to be played on one system (I guess two for Smash, if you want to get technical, lol).  Games like X and Bayonetta 2 are probably not going to be enormous hits, but they are certainly going to round out the WiiU's library nicely.

So when it comes to the exclusive games that each console will have by 2014's end, WiiU has the upper hand (not to mention the cheapest price).
