They did indeed waste a good lead, and they've owned up to that. Their mismanagement of their Wii U/3DS development cycles, putting way too much focus on 3DS when they should have been getting games ready for Wii U, is inexcusable. But it's also over and done with, and they have plenty of content coming right around the corer. If you honestly think that "it's going to be a landslide" because the PS4 is just gonna sell like HOTCAKES (which has yet to be proven), also infering that the Wii U is still not going to sell that well.....well I really don't know what to tell you. We'll see when fall hits I guess. But I would never discount the power of franchises like Mario, DKC, Zelda (even a remake), Wii Fit, an actually GOOD looking new exclusive Sonic game, etc.

Just the fact that the system is finally GETTING some more meaningful games, in abundance, will help sales tremendously. And if Nintendo did the smart thing, and offered a great bundle, or dropped the price by $50, I think it would help even more.

Im only going off of past track records. If the reception for the PS4 is correct, you can bet your bottom dollar its launch is going off without a hitch and will only get stronger come 2014 with all the games that are coming out. Nintendo will have some good games but not major games. In that case the Gamecube had major games....but that didnt really help . Just like the GC era the first major 3D Mario wasnt exactly what we expected from a 3D mario game. Seems like a game that just should've been a new IP. I will play it regardless just like I did Sunshine, but still, I hope you understand my point.

Lets look at what Microsoft had done to align themselves with Sony during their first year lead. It wasnt the first party exclusives that got MS to rise to power but the third party games. There was no Halo 3 from 2005-2006. It was exclusive contract with third parties for the Xbox and Call of Duty that made it start to have relevance and this was before Modern Warfare. 

He who holds the third parties (the wealth of games) holds the power of stability with gamers.

Im going to be labeled a Nintendo hater (even though I have a 3ds) and a Sony fanboy, but Im just going to state facts. For 50$ more, you can get a Ps4 which is going to have amazing AAA games AND tons of multiplatform third party games that WONT be coming to the Wii U. FIFTY DOLLERS! Nintendo has stated multiple times that they have not intended to drop the price because they believe that the Wii U is already a bargain. So I don't know what makes all of you say that they will drop the price. But until then if they ever do, it is still always only going to be 50$ more. Now, you guys are going to jump all over me saying "But the Wii U has so many good games coming out this year and next!" OK so lets compare the games coming out on Ps4 that WILL NOT BE COMING TO WII U, and games on Wii U that will not be coming out on Ps4. THIS IS BETWEEN PS4 AND WII U ONLY. I SAY AGAIN WII U AND PS4 ONLY!!!

These lists are just off the top of my head. I don't know about you guys, but for 50$ more you can play twice the amount of games on Ps4 than the Wii U. The Wii U has games, however 5 of those titles, Project X, SMT x FE, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, and TW101 are very Niche. These games are not going to sell the insane numbers you guys are putting expectations for. Its a fact. Project X maybe, but others not. So if you guys who believe the Wii U is the greatest thing since sliced bread, well then have fun playing only 5-10 games every year. You guys can also go on about how the casuals are going to eat up Wii Fit U, but if you guys really want people buying the console just to play 1 game and nothing else, then go ahead. However, gamers will all agree that the Ps4 library is much more appealing than the Wii U just in sheer number of games. SONY HAS STATED THAT THEY STILL HAVE MORE GAMES TO ANNOUNCE AT GAMESCOM AND TGS, SO THIS LIST IS ONLY GOING TO GROW BIGGER. Now don't get me wrong, I will be buying a Wii U and a Ps4, however this is just my 2 cents. Time for me to be eatin alive by the Nintendo Fanboys lol.

Wasn't it just rumored that Nintendo was canceling the Wii U basic because no one was buying them? Retailers also were rumored to stop selling them too? No one is going to buy that horrible bundle, only 8gb of hard drive space, versus the 500gb that the ps4 has? And even then the Ps4 has blu ray playback, dvd playback, music player, and other features on top of being a system that is going to have amazing games for it? Ok then...Try downloading TW101 on that basic Wii U set, I bet you cant because it is 10gb in size lol. Your going to need an external HDD to even download it. Thus, you will be spending the same amount of money as you would be for buying a deluxe version.

I dont think ur a hater or fanboy but there are a few flaws in ur reasoning.

1. Ur correct that Nintendo has stated a price cut is not on the way but no company will ever admit they have one planned until a few weeks before it happens. Also im pretty sure between now and April that could change, which is still 9 months away. Im guessing a price cut will occur in April to go alongside Mario Kart 8 and a possible bundle. Wii U Basic-$199 (if they keep it around) and Wii U Deluxe w/Mario Kart 8-$299. That would put the entry level sku at half the price of PS4 and the premium sku $100 cheaper with a huge selling game.

2. Most of the titles u listed for PS4 will also be available on PS3, 360, One or PC. Thats up to 5 platforms those games could be on so it doesnt make sense to say people will buy PS4 to get those games when many will already have a console that plays them.

3. the exclusives u did list arent known to be huge sellers, Killzone/Infamous sell 2 million on average, DriveClub/Knack/The Order are unknown entities so theres no telling how well those games will sell. Wii U on the other hand has DKC, 3D Mario, Smash, Mario Kart, Wii Fit, and possibly Zelda/Wii Sports by the end of yhe year, those are all series that traditionally sell over 5 million copies.

4. U say PS4 has a bunch of games yet to be announced, well so does Wii U. Ur post implies that Nintnedo has already revealed the entire 2014 line up.

What if u dont care about digital distribution or already have an external hard drive?
