What happens to the console race if Microsoft actually drops the price of the Xbox One to $400 without changing any features of the console itself.  In otherwords, no loss of Kinect, it still comes packed-in. 

Let's discuss the hypothetical, that today Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One will be priced at $400, and adjusted accordingly in other markets.  What do you think of this move?

Its a good move. But then the "spy cam" rants will go up 1000% in frequency because haters will still need something negative to latch on, lol

They would do quite well.

Then Playstation fans will point out that the PS4 is still 50% more powerful and it's not coming out a year later.

Btw. The PS4 is more powerful and it's not coming out a year later.

What happens? THEY SELL A GIGANTIC AMOUNT of consoles, that is what.

It would sell more, but don't worry certain people would find things to whine about
- The Kinect will spy on me :(
- No yadayada studio no buy
- Microsoft is the devil. I don't buy their products
- It's not as powerful as the PS4 or my awesome gaming PC
- I'm not buying one at launch because of the RROD fiasco from the 360
- Insert X excuse here.

And lots of fanboys would be as confident and as smug as they were before reveal, Im sure.

Its worth adding, it would be a catastrophic fail of leadership and vision. Along with everything else, theyd essentially be admitting they underestimated the power of PlayStation.

They would probably still be competing for another 2nd or 3rd place when alls said and done.

Some more people might get confused.

MS will lose money and some people will lose their jobs.

I would buy one day one no qualms about it.
