Why not give IW a ninty dev kit?

Who the hell knows why.  Why, out of 50 retail game available for Wii U, are only 10 not available for digital download?  And keep in mind that of those 10 games, 9 are Activision games.   In fact, all Activision games are unavailable for digital download.   The only other game comes from EA (even though all other EA games can be downloaded).

But should we assume that just because Activision orders Wii U dev kits that they will have ordered enough units for every single studio to have enough for full game development?  Do we suspect that Sledgehammer games have enough Wii U SDK's for game development?  And Raven Software, High Moon Studios, Radical Entertainment or Neversoft?  Speaking of Neversoft.  Remember how well Guitar Hero sold on Wii?  Those were not even developed by Neversoft.  Vicarious Visions handled those ports.

Why Activision does what it does is a matter of Activision being Activision.   It's best no to make too many assumptions about them and their studios.

Well hell assumptions is all we have, and thats why we discussing on forums. But who knows how many they got? You're right about that. I still feel IMHO that Acti in terms of priority; the WIi U is kind of on the back burner at least in terms of COD. It is what it is, doesnt really affect me that much as I will not be buying the next COD, period. Was curious is all.

Oh, I'm sure it is on their CoD back burner.  But the lack of IW at the Wii U helm isn't surprising given the circumstances (resources and dev kits) and history (Treyarch game and engine porting).

IW has been pretty vocal about being anti-Nintendo in the past too.   That could (if we stick to speculation) be one of several reasons why Activision never ordered SDK's for them.

I was actually surprised, I thought that the whole Treyarch on ninty thing was just cause the WIi was so far behind the HDs that they might have well just get a different team to work on the game, since the assets would be different, i thought it would not be an issue with WIi U since its closer to the HDs that WIi ever was and it would be a simple port job, guess i was wrong.

I was thinking this too, but i thought the ones who were really anti Ninty at IW left to form Respawn, maybe im wrong and maybe its still in effect. And they just continuing with buisness a usual, im sure the game will be fine, Treyarch knows what to do, the whole thing just struck me as odd. It would be like it they had one team develop a COD for PS3 and have different one develop for 360 and yet another for PC

Activision is currently leading in support of Wii U against many other publishers, releasing blockbuster franchises to Nintendo’s struggling platform.

With one legit game annoucement?  haha.

I was gonna say, what about Ubisoft?

They're bringing Splinter Cell, AC4, Watchdogs, Rayman...

Treyarch worked on a lot of Activision's Wii projects and have really established themselves as being able to work incredibly well on Nintendo hardware.  Given the already overloaded status of IW and Treyarch's history, this seemed almost as it should be.  But I can see from the perspective of someone that see all the details going on back then and now would be surprised that IW isn't handling the development.

When you actually think about it, I'm surprised IW is taking on as much as it is.  A new engine, 5 SDK's with 2 of them being brand new, high end hardware.  Their work week must suck big time.   If they are pulling less than 14 hour days, 6 days per week, I'd be shocked.

And it was more than just Zampella that spoke out against Wii at IW though many did so in discrete channels rather than via the media.

thats fair, i just figured since the WIi U is brand new hardware and not a WIi it would get essentially a clean slate a tablua rasa and IW would just make the game for it since it doesnt have the issues the WIi had, guess not.
