Like the thread title says, have you?

What I mean by original game is a game with no relation to any real game. For me, I have a creative mind so I have a tendency to generate a brainstorm  of an original title. Within in this past year, along side my senoritis, I had at least a dozen ideas for games in a variety of genres from rpgs to strategy games to action adventure to platformers.

For instance, here is one of the ideas I had thought of recently called "Sight".

It takes placed in the near but alternate future where children suddenly gain a new powers. As they approach the age of 6, they start to see strange things like auras around people, visions of the future, percentages. People now call this Vision. Vision can be classified into 3 types: foresight, aura and Analysis. Foresight gives visions of the future. Aura identifies other living things through certain traits like emotions, truth, and favorite color. Analysis identifies certain characteristics of a person or actions through stats and figures. At first, parents were scared but all the kids were fine with it since they all had it, but those who lacked Vision were mostly out casted except the blind. You play as Rose, a 22 year old whose entire life have revolved around Vision. She has been gifted with 3 different Visions( Deathsight, Emotion Prism, Success) with unique effects. The gameplay would be like a brawler where the player would use combos customized prior to combat and utilize parkour in stealth in an open world urban environment. No death is required to complete the game but with each death, Rose will gradually become insane creating unique effects in the enviroment. Each of the Vision abilities gives her different assets in the game; Deathsight shows her a vision of death to happen in the nearby vicinity, Emotion Prism allows her to tell who is hostile and friendly to her, and Success shows the percentage of success sort of like VATS from Fallout except not limited to combat.

You control 4 dolphins with the same keys. Each dolphin moves differently in terms of speed, turn radius, and reaction time. They look exactly the same though. Objective is to eat everything on the screen.

For example, pressing the left key makes all of them move left, but some of them turn left at a faster rate and some slower.

Reflective on how as a single person, everyone's pretty damn smart and cute. When a person higher up tries to command them together, they are frustrating and annoying.

I actually made this for my compsci class. Had the idea in my head for a while. Kinda inspired by Ecco the Dolphin now that I look at it.

Your idea sounds more like an action rpg, than a brawler that could be a turn based rpg aswell.
Just a thougt though.

Yea i have an idea or 40 something-ish. This question gets asked every yr.

I won't give my usual answer, which is an rpg. This time it' a 3rd person shooter that has a 4 player off or online campaign. It takes 4 different nato alies and puts them on team on several different combat missions.

All the weapons will be unlocked, giving the players thier own way to play, on how they play. No weapon upgrades needed.

All military vehicles be available, but only through mission type. The charaters themselves do have their own things they specialize in, which you'll learn in ths first 5 hr's of the game. And you'll play thier class and weapons of choice during the first 5 hr's of game play (likly will change to 3 hrs as 5 seems a bit mutch).

Letting the player plY as they wish after that time period will be that character evolving.

There will be 6 classes of weapons that you'll be able to carry, on and offline.

Also you'll be able to create the character you play with online. And duringbthe 15 hrs of gameplay you will ha solo missions aswell as the solo introdustion missions when the game starts.

Srry for the wording, i'm doing thiz by phone and couldn't edit the post as need be.

No relation to any real game? Eh, got a few of those. Will toss one out there...

A single-player medieval RTS called Conquest. As a mercenary/bandit, you must destroy or absorb all enemies and/or cities on randomly generated maps.

Gameplay is driven by a "morale" mechanic. The faster you destroy an enemy force, or the more you intimidate them (using fire, hurling severed heads, cover of darkness, executing prisoners, etc) the faster they surrender. Depending on how you defeat them, different numbers will either defect, offer to be hired, or escape. The more quickly you win, the more who offer to join, and at lower prices, but the more brutal you are, the fewer men you can recruit.

You can upgrade common soldiers to different unit classes, or between classes, using money. Different classes have provide buffs or different damage potential. Money collected from company war chests (from defeated armies), raiding caravans (which provides steady income for small armies) and sacking cities (which give a single, huge boost to wealth). The faster you win, the more money you get, but you get a multiplier for brutality.

Starting as a small group of five, you must avoid larger armies or caravans until you are large enough to take them on, picking off smaller groups until you are of the right size. Large armies are deadly, but slow and clumsy, and terrain allows you to tip the odds in your favor for ambushes or defense points. Armies divided into formations for movement and combat, which act as command groups and can be made autonomous with certain special units.

End-game is to assault the Capital, which is heavily defended, and capture it. Since you have limited units, you must be strategic.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Okay, so there is this man who's girlfriend was stolen. He has to jump over many obstacles and enemies to get to her. There are many life or death moments on his way to save her like bottomless pits, magicians that fly, and a lot of projectiles. (All of these are sent to kill him by the monster that stole his girlfriend.)

He continues going right to go towards the ship that has stolen her. Whilst doing this he befriends a dinosaur that helps him on his journey. This dinosaur has mastered the art of jumping meaning he can stay in the air for long distances while the man (who's girlfriend was stolen) is on his back.

Once he gets to the monster that stole his GF he has to have an epic battle with him to be able to obtain a key that opens the chamber his GF is in. Once the chamber is opened they can go back to their normal lives in there mansion with their many adopted children.

It took me a long time to think that one up. Hope you like it!

sounds like the kind of game microsoft would make.

Yes, well, vaguely original.

I'm currently programming a game in which you command a fleet of spaceships (plot yet to be determined :P)

What differentiates my game from other games that meet the description above (Even online, Gratuitous space battles, space pirates and zombies etc) are two things.

1) Realism of the environment:
Spaceships don't have a top speed, they have a top acceleration, assuming you stay at non relativistic speeds that is.
All objects in the game have mass, which gives them momentum and gravity.
Components of the ship can be damaged, allowing you to aim for weapons, engines etc.

2) Realism of controls:
You take on the role of admiral of the fleet (except the tutorial will likely be flashbacks to your character at different ranks so I can introduce concepts a few at a time.) This makes the game very different from, say, Space Pirates and Zombies, because you will rarely in my game think "I'm the admiral, but I'm gonna ignore what my fleet is doing and head to weapons control to take some shots" It is also very different to GSB, in that it will all be real time, allowing you to issue commands to your fleet that change their objectives and behaviour during the game rather than just at the start.

i thought of one :P you start off as a 2d NES-style platformer, you adventure on, etc. and there are some areas you can't access because of techinical limitations, and with a push of a button, the game turns SNES style and the area gets unlocked, but there are some things you can't do because the NES style mode allowed it, and the same with N64-style,GC-style,etc.

well, it's hard to be original but here goes.

So, the main hero is a female 18 year old who instead to going off to college like most of her classmates she along with a couple of her friends decide to become rock stars. while the main hero, decides to work as a night club DJ. One day while practicing in the garage, they feel an earthquake, then suddenly they see a small planet like ship crash in the distance. which catches the attendion of the whole city (Seattle WA)

The main hero decides to investagate against her friends wishes. so they reach to ship and the door opens, so they hide. out comes the bad guys, which I'll call them "The Trinity." their main reason for coming to the planet is because their home world has ran out of resoures to they want to use  the earths. while the bad inspect the planet, the main hero sneaks on the ship to see what kind of tech these bad guys have until she finds a special sword. which grants her certain ablilites. when one of the minions discover her, they fire a energy blast at her but the sword telaport her to safety to her and her friends suprise. so they run and not to long the Trinty catch up and tells her and her friends that if they want their planet back they would need to defeat them and the seven deadly syns.

I don't know I tried lol.

Let's see hack n slash with a shadow of the collouss style boss fight's

it'll be an ARPG with a bit alternative rock and rap music.
