MS publically admittred to giving away Skype and Outlook details...there was no mention of "Xbox" in any sort. 360 kinect isn't monitored, and neither will the X1 kinect.

The reason people are worried about it is because it's constantly listening for a prompt to turn on the xbox one. That means it must always be listening. Phones aren't always listening for a voice command, so that comparison doesn't really make sense. We saw how crazy people were about their privacy with the NSA scandal, and this came out at the worst time. People in European countries will freak out even more. Germany is a bit crazy about privacy based on what I've heard. And yes companies can monitor your kinnect. MS has been making deals with companies so people can get "personalized ads" from companies they are partnered with. Now does that mean it's always watching, no. It does mean that it's paying a little bit to much attention while the console is in use though.

You seem to misunderstand the problem.

How are people going to play a nice round of halo and smoke pot or enjoy a few lines of speed without getting paranoid ? Its not like the drugs dont enhance your paranoid thoughts .

Always turning the camera around once you do some drugs can get annoying fast. Also what if the Kinect overhears some friend saying call steve we need some more.

And what if you want to stream some porn over your new xbox and jack off, or your gf wants to give you a surprise blow job, getting up and unpluging the xbox is the last thing on your mind.

I just want them to let me unplug it so I can throw it somewhere out of my sight. I don't have space for that crap. I just want it out of my way. If I don't have to have it on then when on gods green earth does it need to be plugged in?

My only concerns are it taking up a usb port and having an annoying light. One of those is already gone with kinect v2 but I expect I'll need electrical tape for the second.

Well phone cams can not be always on or always listening since that would drain the battery extremly fast and the stuff would seem broken and people would return it or let it repair so no company would let the cam or microphone run 24/7 not even in standby letting it listen for keywords even that would require too much power. same goes for notebooks but the xbox has a steady powerline kinect is infact listening and has a great view on your living room unlike phones.

So I can understand that people dont like the idea of the kinect and it is infact a problem for a lot of persons irrational or not the problem is you can not be 100% sure the world works like you think. Unless you can see it for yourself all thats left is to hope that nobody actually gives a shit. Which I infact believe (but dont know for sure) so Kinect wouldnt bother me at all except for the fact that I have to pay for it eventhough I dont care about any of its functionalities atm.
