In their defense, Killer Instinct in the arcades back in 1994 or whatever was a beautiful game but its gameplay could be scaled back to run on a SNES. So, technically, he's right.....

Ok but this applies to a lot of games/genres. Racing games, Fighting games, shooters, Jump'n'runs... Basically the ones we saw at E3.

Yeah, it was more of a tongue in cheek reply. That SNES port was stripped of virtually everything the Arcade version had. You can scale back anything to run on anything, really. What the guy was saying is "If you cut back on the next-gen stuff, it would just be a current gen game".

walsufnir said: What? Killer Instinct looks amazing! You should read more on the GAF-Thread, they have many gameplay-videos of this gorgeous game. Btw, did you notice his comment on the Xbone-controller? :) |
Well I saw a lot of gameplay video and I didn't find it amazing in graphics terms... I think 360 can run this game to be fair... gameplay wise it is what every fan expected from KI and that's great.
I read... the controller is a near-perfect evolution of 360 pad.
People expecting a real next-gen difference right off the bat will be disappointed. No doubt the same will be said about the PS4, when all is said and done.
Wait until the system is in people's homes, in a couple of years time. Then we'll see some next-gen titles, but not sooner.

There is no way 360 or PS3 can run this game, especially not given it's 1080p60. _No_ way.

2D Fighting styles games is not that demmanding... in 360 it can run in 720p60 and looks close to what you see in Xbone... this is not a graphical achievement in any way.

Many others and DF disagree but let it be, ethomaz. One can't argue about opinions. You don't think the game is nextgen, others do, and nothing will change. Not the game, not the graphics, not the opinions by others when reading our talk.

Most people don't think it is next-gen graphics for sure because it is not.

PS. Who wrote the DF article?
Edit - From DF article "Killer Instinct may not set a new technical benchmark, but the 1080p60 gameplay is fast, fluid and fun and there's some really nice effects work on display."
Even DF agree with me lol.

Who is "most"? But either way - if it's not nextgen than it is current-gen. Which current-gen fighting game looks equal to this? Leave aside running in 1080p60?
Right, there is none and there won't be one.
Look it up for DF, it was at their E3-article of Xbone.
