Forums - Microsoft - Kotaku: "I Finally Got My Hands On The Xbox One. Hmm."

Glad to hear Ryse is a fun game (although I pretty much already knew it would be :P )

But I think there is a pretty sizable difference between 360 games and what I saw on the Xbox One. The difference looks about that same as Xbox to Xbox 360 was.

As has been commented on extensively on Kotaku, there wasn't a huge difference between Xbox and Xbox 360 games. Considering that Kameo was originally an Xbox game, just proves that point. Likewise the EA sports titles disappointingly were at best only slightly better than their Xbox counter parts. Often with fewer features.

It wasn't until about 2007 when the power of the console really shined through.

I don't agree with your Kameo example, though. That game rendered over fifty-one hundred enemies at once without issues, while also loading a huge map to explore.

Fair point.  Though graphically the game was only a slight step up.

That was by far my favorite point in the game though.  I felt so deflated when it was over because it was so intense.

In retrospect, I don't believe the map was actually that big.  You had load points as you travelled through it, but they did have excellent draw distance in that game.

Don't know about Ryse gameplay, but it sure looked next gen to me.

I've honestly been impressed with everything I've seen graphically from Microsoft.  The only game I'm really impressed with so far from Sony is Knack.

Nothing looks 'woah next gen' so far, I guess that'll come in a year or so.

Dead Rising 3 comes very close though, the amount of zombies on screen at once.

He got it wrong. The PS4 is "hmm" while the X1 is just "meh".

What about WiiU?

People still take them serious?

Kotaku failed to mention that Killer Instinct runs 60FPS at 1080P .

What we want are flawless 1080p@60fps with enough leftover computing power for non-stupid as shit AI. Once we reach that we can go ahead and call the the vidya games arms race as over. For now this next gen will give us a good boost in computing power that we need to get at the sweet spot we are asking for.

I get the feeling that all we should be looking for in 'next' gen is prettier graphics. So I'll guess ill stay content with last gen, it had some great games.
