Forums - Gaming - Reasons Why I Refuse To Buy Games Digitally

Something about having a physical collection is just more gratifying.

No one is forcing you to buy your games digital.

One thing though. If I were living in Colombia or Trinidad right now, then I would probably have a lot more digital titles due to cost. High import taxes contribute to the price of the product, which multiply it by a factor of 1.5 (or 2 or 3 in Colombia). Plus there's scarcity. Some games, due to a lack of demand, are hard to find. If you are interested in a niche title it may be problematic to source. With that said, it makes much more sense to purchase games digitally under those conditions.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I used to be a collector like you, then I lost saved so much time, money and space by going digital , I would sell all my collection to be honest,

Never said anyone was forcing me, I'm just stating my opinion on why I like physical over digital.  I thought you could share your thoughts on the forums...

Digital = PC gaming

Physical = Consoles/Portables

I've stated the reason why in the thread you noted in OP.

yeah but basil lets be serious, how many physical games do you buy that not have...

1 - those annoying online codes

2 - "if you want to play this game install it"

3 - "if you want to play this game update it"

4 - "This disk is region locked and cannot be played on your device"

5 - sorry we can't find a copy of (game) because they didn't ship that many copies, this is especially for japanese games

6 - nowadays physical copies are very half assed, they look lame, have no instruction manual, and barely feel any special

so yeah why buy a physical disk and go for all that trouble when you can just download it and play whenever you like? , its also much cheaper if you are outside of US  buying US games, i'm talking about 3 times more cheaper in my case.

I don't mind buying digital games, I do prefer physical copies of games although I find myself buying digital more and more often now.

Yeah, we downloaded Lego City Undercover for the 3DS and that game pretty much ate all of my kid's 3DS memory. We had to delete some DSi titles to make room. I'm not even 100% sure we can download them from the 3DS eShop. It may be possible but I'm not sure. Had I known, we'd have gone with the physical copy.

Here, here. The only two games I've bought digitally that are available at retail are Fire Emblem Awakening (couldn't find a single store that had a copy) and Animal Crossing New Leaf since it's a nice game to jump into for fuve minutes now and then without having to carry around multiple cartridges.

Otherwise, though, Nothing can top the feeling of looking at my nice, big shelf full of games :)

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
