Yes bring back Nintendo Sports.

Work with Konami on the PES series for Wii U/3DS, let them use Mario characters as a side mode.

Hire LeBron James and Sidney Crosby and make games based around them (basketball and hockey).

There should be a "sim mode", but a "Mario Sports" mode also in these games, so you can play a realistic style or a more aracadey style game with Mario or other Nintendo characters available.

Also make a new Punch-Out! for the 3DS and bring in Manny Pacquaio and have Mike Tyson return.

Looks like someone didn't learn anything from All-Play.

Putting Mario characters into simulations would be counter-productive. These games need a serious tone to be taken serious.

You can have the regular sim mode. The Mario mode would just be a side thing.

Honestly though Nintendo would probably be better off pursuing a solid movie/franchise IP partnership like James Bond and/or Marvel Comics (those would sell great on both the Wii U *and* 3DS IMO).

Punch-Out 3D! w/Mike Tyson though please. Wouldn't cost much to get his rights.

Wouldn't cost much because he's a practical PR liability nowadays. Perhaps Manny Pacquiao? He's relatively small like Little Mac.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think a ton of people would love to beat the crap out of Tyson, albeit for different reasons than 25 years ago. ~_~

No, Nintendo should focus on sport games but with a more arcade feel. Then need to convince 2K (NBA) and Konami (PES) to bring their games to the console and they will be covered.

No, simulation sports games are boring.

I mean, you play video games to win. The idea is that if you're good enough, you'll win. So you play a baseball sim, start a franchise... and win 162 games, sweep the playoffs and world series... then you get to do it again... this isn't a simulation, it's a fantasy. It's impossible in real life. If the games were made to be more "realistic", more of an actual simulation, you'd lose some games. Often for reasons outside of your control. And nobody wants to invest a couple of hours into a video game, lose, and then try to convince themselves they made some progress.

Nintendo is better off making games like Mario Tennis or Mario Golf where the presentation is whimsical and fun and you don't bat an eye at the fact that you're winning every match any more than you would at something like this.

No, since they have the weakest hardware, they should stay away from photo realistic games and focus on creating imaginative worlds that can't be directly compared to games from their competitors. What could work is bringing a select number of sports stars into their arcade games to play along Mario.

Also, resources are limited, they should focus on making more and better Mario arcade sports games before even thinking to develop expertise in sports simulations. Concerning racing simulation, trying to rival Gran Turismo and Forza on a weaker hardware would be pure folly.

In the end, most people don't buy a Nintendo console to play experiences that are similar to what you find on PS or XBOX, so making simulation games simply to make sure that the genre is also available on the Wii U doesn't make sense to me (more so if the end product is likely to be inferior due to hardware limitation).

Simulation sports wouldn't really appeal to the current Nintendo base. They're a reason why the gamey arcade feel of Mario Kart works. If they wanted to sell to the Nintendo base, they would make it more like MK.

If they wanted to attract some of the dudebro base, then that's a whole different problem. I don't think spending millions on licenses will be worth the return.

They better off having arcade sports. They could use another one like Mario Kart.

No, but i think given EA's current stance Konami has missed an opportunity by not announcing PES for the WiiU.

Some WiiU owners would just about buy that game out of spite.

No. Arcade-style sports titles would be cheaper and possibly more effective as a counterbalance/

Hell yes.

I loved Nintendo's old sports games in the past because they had a bit of a arcade feel but were still close enough to reality to not be super power throw fests. Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside, the Ken Griffey MLB games, 1080 Snowboarding, Wave Race and the N64 Excitebike were all great games at the time.

Easily one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes with the Wii was moving away from these types of games. Sure I get leaving some stuff for Wii Sports but to leave all of their non Mario sports franchises in limbo on a console that would have been perfect for the Wii motion controls... wasteful.

I know they can't produce American football or a legit soccer game with the real teams, but Nintendo OWNS a freaking MLB team for Pete's sake, they should be able to release their own MLB game and with the Gamepad and the Wii remote plus imagine the fun local multiplayer you might be able to have UNIQUE to the Wii U. If Nintendo is so driven to reuse Wii accessories, how about the balance board being used for 1080 Snowboarding or even a combo of the balance board and Wii remote for Wave Race?

A NBA game would also work if only to show how well it could be done on the console but really there are a bunch of different types of games that Nintendo can do to make up for the lack of support they are receiving from 3rd parties. I think like they did during the N64 era, they should do so rather then leave their console library looking thin outside of the standard Nintendo money makers giving the media and 3rd parties more "evidence" not to bother supporting the system.

Sure as long as mario isn't in them.

Otherwise i'll just stick to N64 with 1080 and Ken Griffey Jr Baseball and NHL.

They really need a race simulator though
