To each his own, obviously. We all have our opinions, and sadly yours can't all be correct like mine. GTA is a great franchise (if we ignore the steaming pile of crap that is GTAIV), but it's also one of the most overrated franchises out there.

Shenmue is a vastly more immersive game, and that's not necessarily a knock against GTA, but Shenmue was way ahead of it's time. Not that most people know that since they never actually played it -_-

It was was ahead of its time but that doesn't mean it still is.  If they made a new shenmue it probably wouldn't come anywhere near gta 5. Unless they made it on a much much smaller scale.

The team that made Shenmue isn't together anymore, but if they were, and they got the kind of budget to work with that GTA does, who's to say a new Shenmue wouldn't once again be ahead of it's time?

We can debate ifs and maybes all day, but the fact is that the 2 games they did make were ahead of their time, and had a huge influence on open world games that followed.

That is one impressive map. Looks to be a nice variety in locations too, and yeah there should be an awful lot of content there. Can't wait to see more!

Also for the whole GTA discussion; GTA is one of my all-time favourite franchises (San Andreas is my second favourite game of all time, after all). There's just something great about driving around with music blaring out running over pedestrians and just generally causing mayhem. Then again there's also quite a large social side which may have skewed my opinion; but GTA will always be a go-to series when I want just a little bit of mindless fun.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Full Witcher 3 map revealed: http://i.imgur.com/Sna3kJe.jpg

Looks like there are 5 main settlements, the cities Novigrad, Oxenfurt, Vizima, and Kaer Trolde, plus the Witcher Stronghold Kaer Morhen.

I also count 5 medium sized (named) towns and close to 20 small villages. Just imagine the fact that even those small villages will have a few quests each. This game really might have 200 hours of content.

That's a sexy map, but are you sure it's the full map? Looks cut in half to me, or at the very least incomplete on the left side

GTA is rightfully hyped because they are the most interactive games in the market.
You drive, shoot, fly, parachute, dive, date, etc... they got the best comedic lines and scenes, the music is great, so is the gameplay and story.

What other game or franchise comes closer?

Now thats funny, you cant be more wrong. if you think GTA is funny then.. i feel sorry for you.

LOL. Well, tell me what's funny then.

it looks as if a little bit is missing of the left part. Not only can't you read some stuff but this here has also a little bit more on the left:

it's  not much, only two small isles and a little bit of the big isle.

You can say that about any game.  What if they got gta's budget.  Rockstar and gta made their own success so they can afford the extra luxuries.  Just want to add it's one of my favorite series ever and it's sense of humour appeals to me.

Scratch that. Gen 8 is the gen full of remasters, broken promises, and delays.

That really wasn't the point. The Shenmue games still rank among some of the most expensive games ever developed as well, and my point is to do the series justice and conclude it properly it would need these things to do it again.

Edit: too late lol
