They're not debating, it's 30fps. Somebody on this forum has already confirmed it.

"So while we are aiming for sixty, there is always the chance that we'll never quite reach there."

They are not sure... so nothing confirmed yet.

"...we've gone for a fully dynamic environment, so you can go any time of day, anywhere on the planet, and it'll calculate the atmospheric density, whether you're up the top of a mountain or at sea level."

What exactly is the point of this?

This is what happens every Gen ,they get increased power and resources and instead of getting the basics right  , we still get the same old pop up etc , becausethe design guys fill it up with stuff like look the leather seats will behave like real world ones with imprints etc , rather than lets get everything running well and then add the feature sets while maintaning sixty and when it starts to buckle we'll look at how we can fine tune it or if that's not  possible get rid of the less noticable features.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Isn't 42 frames per second the maximun a human eye can perceive?

Nah, that's a myth. From my own experiences though, the biggest problem I have with 30 vs 60 is not the visual smoothness, but the smoothness of my input from the mouse/controller to the game. For a driving game I could live with 40 - 50, but 60, no matter how pretty, might slightly impact my enjoyment :/

can someone explain to me the benefit of 60fps versus 30fps?(or any between them) does it help with resolution? overall graphics?

I mean I certainly can't tell the difference between the two....have I missed out on the available "bullet time" feature that was given out to the public :p

I think I'm probably due an apology from a previous thread.

lol

you take things to personally and seriously on here

common, put fps above overall graphics in a racing game please! can't believe a racing game developer prefers the graphical impression above the frames.

Racing games should be at 60fps. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Anyone that thinks 60fps will ever be the standard in console gaming is being foolish. Developers often sacrifice frame rate for visual fidelity.

Play any Call of Duty game and after play Battlefield 3... play Call of Duty game again... you will see the difference and why the devs are aiming 60fps on Battlefield 4 this time even if the resolution is dropped to 720p in next-gen consoles.

And you will fell the difference... it is the better way to make you felt the difference than try to explain
