Forums - Nintendo - Retailers are a part of the Wii U problem

silly argument as 3DS and software is selling fairly well, so people clearly aren't confused, Wii U boxes are distinct from Wii boxes even if they are put together, its just Nintendo's fault, the've made a console that's just not appealing to most people.

Its all on them to change the perception of the console.

Haha, no.   People are.  It's been said before, but the general public does believe that the Wii U is a device to update the Wii to HD and that 3DS games work on the DS.

But according to this website, 3DS is the top selling console every week, so people are clearly fine.

People might be confused about Wii - WiiU, but again thats nintendos fault, awful branding combined with terrible messaging.

its the publishers fault for not wanting to bring their games to the WiiU because they wont sell. its the devs fault because they are lazy when they do bring the games to the WiiU, its also the gamers fault for not knowing better, as well as the retailers too.
so why isnt the WiiU selling? publishers+gamers+devs+retailers! did i forget anyone else?
we can also come to the conclusion that nintendo = perfection, and they did nothing wrong with the WiiU

I'm in stores all the time looking for good bargains, and for the most part WiiU has it's own section although it's not uncommon it overlaps into the now depleted Wii section.

I don't this is an issue as so much is consumer apathy for the system resulting the retailer apathy for it.

I fail to see the logic here.

If a person accidentally buys a DS or Wii game for their 8th gen systems, they will still be able to play them and already knows about Nintendo's most recent systems.

If a person (somehow) accidentally buys a 3DS or Wii U game for their 7th gen systems, they will become aware of Nintendo's most recent systems after being forced to do some research.

No problem is present as far as retailers goes.

This.  You guys sound like developers who say that used games are the reason they don't make money anymore, except you're fans trying to spin some new random reason why the 3DS isn't selling.  We see a new topic every week that the Wii U is going to start selling after Monster Hunter, then Lego City, then this, then that, etc, etc, etc, and you always go back to the "consumers  can't differntiate between Wii and Wii U."

You don't see Vita fans making excuses as on why it's not selling even close to we expected for a stupid reason such as this.  What ends you go to defending the consoles sales makes you look a bit pathetic honestly.

That explains why in the past year I've seen so many posts on this site from Vita fans saying, "Assassin's Creed is going to be a Megaton on Vita", "Call of Duty is going to be a Megaton on Vita", "PlayStation All-Stars is going to be a Megaton on Vita", blah, blah, blah...  Unless megaton means another non-million seller, then it makes sense.

Compared to the rest of the Vita games, the sales are "megatons" as you people like to call them.  Not hitting a million sales means nothing when they're still the second and third most sold games in the Vita library.

Oh yes, because "Vita Fans" haven't made up any ridiculous excuses for why the Vita isn't selling. They're just too good for that.

Other than "the price is too high" or "has a lot of great games, but too many ports."  No.  We haven't.  We haven't made a stupid excuse like the Vita not selling because people are mistaking it for the PSP, yet every other week we get a post saying people don't know the difference between the Wii U and the Wii.

Even though I'm a Vita and 3DS fan, yeah.  The Vita fanbase has been too good for that.  Nintendo fans did the same thing with the DS.  People don't know the difference between the DS and 3DS, a system selling atleast 70,000 a week, and once that price drop hit hasn't sold less than 120,000 a week.  Yeah.  People CLEARLY didn't know the difference between the DS and 3DS(/s.)

I'd love to laugh at these silly arguments that try to spin blame but I won't because I remember the PS3 starting out this way back in 2006. It's still funny... but I won't laugh.

People aren't stupid. They are able to tell the difference between "3DS" and "DS" or "Wii U" and "Wii".

The Wii and Wii U cases aren't pretty different. Moreso than than of 3DS and Ds.

nintendo is never the problem

I don't know hon.. my stores are even more confusion.. for instance there is a stand for the Vita and a system to play on and what not.. but then.. no systems or games for it in Target... and I would say that is because Vita sales out.. but then there is no case to display the Vita(To sell the system with)... Wii U has the opposite problem.. they don't have a Wii U on hand for you to play.. but they do have the games.. although.. and here is the thing.. it's at the very end of Wii games.. so you have Wii Games that have their section.. then it just kind of jumps to Wii U.. no cases to show they are different systems or anything... so yes I think this is a problem with retailers.. cause you never see an actual Wii U system.. just games.. so people get confused even with different casings and what not.. because there is nothing right out there to show you.. that they are different systems... ironically enough.. this is a situation still going with 3DS too.. there are still some who don't realize 3DS is not just another Dsi.. or whatever.. the Wii U is suffering a identity crisis.. I can't blame retailers entirely.. but it does not seem at times they are going out of their way to help at all.. (I guess as long as you make profits from games.. who cares in the retailers eyes yes??)

Nintendo Wii by generations...

1. Wii

2. Wii U

3. Wii O U

Predictions made by gamers concerning the current Nintendo line up of games.

Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)

Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)

Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)
