I fail to see the logic here.
If a person accidentally buys a DS or Wii game for their 8th gen systems, they will still be able to play them and already knows about Nintendo's most recent systems.
If a person (somehow) accidentally buys a 3DS or Wii U game for their 7th gen systems, they will become aware of Nintendo's most recent systems after being forced to do some research.
No problem is present as far as retailers goes.
