Forums - Nintendo - Pikmin 3 NA Commercial

Metroid: Other M had a cool TV spot, it's too bad the game disappointed a lot of people (I actually didn't mind it too much):

But I think NOA since about 2011 has started to market more towards kids as the primary audience. I think after the 3DS launch didn't go as planned they shifted to more kid-centric marketing.

It was slightly cool.

Had they used an older actress instead of the kid, and another narrator, it would have been much better.

I agree. The CGI is beautiful and the Pikmin and their sounds are represented faithfully; I just hate the kid and the narrator.

The Japanese commercials are much better, and no, not just because there's a cute girl in them, lol.

But hey, the NA ad could've been much worse - at least it wasn't this crap:

That P2 commercial is awful. The one in the OP is briljant compared to that.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I have no problem with it, I could see this getting some attention on kids networks, which isnt a bad thing, it makes sense to try making Wii U the must have christmas item.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Eh, I think that Nintendo has to market to children. Gamers are going to know what it is and whether or not they are going to buy it without advertising. Alot of kids probably don't even know what pikmin is. The commercial was fine.

Plus I think they may feel they can't really compete for adults as Sony/MS oversaturate that crowd with marketing.

Aiming for kids makes some sense I guess.

The danger in it is it generally tends to turn off the teenager/adult demographic entirely as they certainly do not want products primarily marketed to kids, and sometimes even kids don't like it, as they want products marketed to teenagers/adults.

Did we just return to the 90s? What the hell is NoA doing with these ads lately?

Well it's a lot better than the Wii U ads at least.

Are you kidding? That commercial was hilarious! (Though the target audience was wrong)

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)
