A quick, lazy 3D Mario won't work on the Wii U like SM3DL worked on 3DS.
No Mario Kart this holiday season
Price cut probably not happening
Heavy competition.

I personally don't see this holiday being the turnaround that the 3DS had.

The thing is, there are many, many people unlike you. You think SM3DL and SM3DW are lazy Mario games. But what about those 8 Million plus people who bought SM3DL? Or the 5 Million (and surely more) people who will buy SM3DW?

There are many people who will buy these games. Even if some people consider them lazy.

Still, I agree with your final point. Thinking the Wii U will turn around as well as the 3DS did in one year is crazy.

Regarding Mario: 3D land wasn't lazy. It tried something new, while pushing the 3DS. 3D world isn't new, it's a level pack for SM3DL (A game that was designed around handhelds specifically) that looks like it could have been accomplished on the Wii (if the wii could output in HD). It's a lazy game. SM3DL wasn't to my liking, but it wasn't lazy. SM3DW looks lazy, and unfun.

I just don't see a game like SM3DW doing anything big.

if the wii could output hd, super high polygon, high texture quality, lightning... your post is as ridiculous as saying ps2 could run gow3.

The thing is it's completely different for Wii U. The two games skyrocketed 3DS were MK, and 3D Mario Land, along with a price cut. Nintendo has stated they have no plans to cut price. I do still think 3D Mario will sell, they obviously need to advertise for it, but they most likely will for 3D Mario.

What's different is the competition. 3DS had virtually no competition, Wii U is going to up against PS4 and One. When you compare PS4 to Wii U and factor in value, PS4 wins hands down.

I'd love to see a $50 price cut and added storage, but I don't see Nintendo doing this. Maybe even include an external HDD.

based on what exactly? remember when 3ds was going against vita? and vita was announced for the same price as 3ds while ps4 is $100 more expensive from the get go.they are both video games, wii u is cheaper and will actually have games to make a console purchase worth it. wii u wins easily.

I would not say easily, but I agree. people sometimes forgot that here is not the whole market. Real world PS4/X1 will face the same problems that Wii U did/does

The wii u competition is not just the PS4 and XB One but also the XB360 and PS3 - for the next year at least the PS3 and XB 360 will be more completion for the wii u than the new consoles

I hink everyone agrees that more games and good games will increase wii u sales- the question is: will they increase sales enough for the wii u to be a successful console (of course the definition of a successful console is up for debate too)

I meant in the near future. since he said ps4 wins the value battle easily I countered with the fact that wii u is cheaper and will have more games than ps4 for an undetermined time. so wii u wins easily in terms of value.

Idk, I think sales for the PS3 and 360 are gonna plummet when the PS4 and X1 come out, just like they did for the Wii when the Wii U came out.

The PS3/360 are still getting a lot of new games though at least through 2014 I have to think.

Metal Gear Solid V, Grand Theft Auto V, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty Ghosts, Destiny, all of EA's sports games, etc.

Ya, I didn't say software sales were gonna plummet, only hardware sales.  Basically everyone that wants a 360 or PS3 has one by now, and the only people I see still buying them when the X1 and PS4 come out are people that need one because their old one broke.  I will say though if there is a significant price drop then the hardware sales will be steady, at least for a little while longer.  Also one thing tha I forgot to factor in is the Wii U can play Wii games, where as the X1 and PS4 can't play past gen games.

My thoughts are that the PS3 and XB 360 will drop in price a good bit the longer the PS4 and XBONE are on the market thus competing w or undercutting the Wii U on price- If you have never owned a Wi U, PS3 or XB 360 and you are looking for a console on a budget (or its a young person trying to talk their parents into buying a console for them) the 2 older consoles would be tempting- low price and huge libraries of games

IMO the Wii U will be getting pressure from above and below- Nintendo really needs to start throwing elbows and continue to do so for a while to carve out its niche

If they straight ported galaxy onto the WIi U, only making it HD, and no other modifactions. It would look better than 3D world.
