Something really should be happening to this guy. I doubt he had lethal intent, but it's clear that he needs to learn that guns kill people, and that if it hadn't been a black teenager he killed, he would have gotten in a lot of trouble

Sorry, People should learn not to attack people in FL, you will lose your life, doesn’t matter if kid was only going to beat him up. He had the right and he used it. The fact is this only went this far because the kid was black. Nothing more. This should have never went to trial. The law is clear.

If he had been bearing a weapon other than a gun, perhaps Trayvon would have lived and we could have gotten a clearer idea of what actually happened. It must be acknowledged that this death was avoidable in several facets.

That people seem to be pleased with Trayvon's death is equally upsetting.

agreed, the death of TM could've completely been avioded, we'll never know why exactly GZ decided to follow/confront an what happened after that, but despite whatever the defense showed of Trayvon past the only  thing he was guilty of that night was purchasing some skittles and some fruit-flavored drink(and I guess wearing a hoodie)

Being black myself i'm not that upset. the media loves to stir shit up.

I know, if Zimmerman was a black man or the kid was white or Hispanic this case would have never seen the light of day. Plus the president opining his mouth when it wasn't asked for or warranted didn't help matters.

This is a sad truth.  Hundreds, if not thousands, even younger than Trayvon have died this year alone (and its not even over) in major cities, such as Chicago.  Do we hear those stories? Those victim's names?  Of course not.  Not only because it doesn't further this illusion of most white men as racist, since a lot of the crime is black on black, but it would also make the Dems in charge there look incompetent.  Maybe even like they don't care about fixing the problem.  But, because the media falsely assumed Zimmerman was white, and then later decided to call him a "white" Hispanic to cover up their mistake, it helped push this race divide.

So all you have to do to get away with murdering some innocent kid in a hoodie is say you "feel threatened" by him?

This man should have listened to the cop who told him NOT TO FOLLOW the kid, and none of this would have happened in the first place. It isn't exactly self defense when YOU are the one provoking and following your victim...

This kid didn't even have a gun on him. The man did. That should tell you enough right there. How exactly is the man with the gun the one to feel "threatened"?

Man, our justice system is completely fucked...

And this is the problem with our society.  People who don't even look at the facts of the case and just jump to conclusions.  Which, I admit, is much easier to happen when the media is spoon feeding people BS.

Trayvon was far from innocent.  Zimmerman lost him for several minutes.  Plenty of time for Trayvon to get to his dad's house and be relaxing.  Instead, he decided to stick around and (most likely) confront this "crazy ass cracker."  And kid?  Really?  He was an atheletic, 6 ft (Zimmerman was 5'7") 17 yr old YOUNG MAN.  Not the little 12 yr old boy the media tried to portray him as.

Zimmerman was NEVER told by a cop to not follow Trayvon.  He was told by a DISPATCHER that they didn't need him to follow Trayvon.  That's not an order.  And he has no legal obligation to follow it.  And, in fact, he did stop following him at that point.  Hence, the wind dying down and Zimmerman catching his breath on the 911 call.

It also doesn't matter WHO owned the gun, as either man could have got ahold of it and used it.  Zimmerman even stated he believed Trayvon was going for his gun, which is why he felt he had to get to it, first.  Of course, Zimmerman may have only imagined this.  But, who could blame him if he did, he was getting his head slammed against the sidewalk at the time.

In the end, our justice system prevailed over low information "armchair legal experts" and emotion.

pretty much.

In Canada, Zimmerman as a civilian would be arrested and go to jail the moment he had a gun in his car while following Trevon...let alone shooting him, even if in self defense.

To an outsider in a neighbouring  country like myself, America and its laws and society can be really scary at times...but it is what it is.

so i suppose you completely disregard the fact that zimmerman pursued the kid and initiated whatever conflict they had?

He followed someone he found to be suspicious in his neighborhood he was in his right to do so. In other words it's not illigal. The kid should have just kept on till his dads house, and not snuck up and attacked Zimmerman.

As a member of the neighborhood watch, he should have known not to follow him as he was instructed to do so by 911. If the situation was reversed and Martin shot Zimmerman because he felt threatened that some strange guy was following home. I doubt you'd feel the same way. As someone that's been followed before, I can't say what I would have done in the same situation. Although going straight home wouldn't have been my first thought, I don't want to lead a potential threat to my place of residence.

The sad thing about that statement is that if Trayvon had got the gun and shot Zimmerman, only the local media would have covered the story.  The nation would have NEVER heard about it.  And they certainly wouldn't have run pictures of Zimmerman as a 12/13 yr old Hispanic boy shot by the 6 ft "thug."

Guys that keep saying that the story wouldn't have ever made national news if _________: The reason the story made national news is because the family brought this to the attention of mainstream media. It WOULD have gone unnoticed, otherwise.

His life is pretty much ruined at this point. This ruling won't be the end of it.

yeah, the right to self defense... real scary.

but based off your post and the inacurracies in it, its clear your not interested in the facts of the case anyway
