Defense force for everything I see

Your rights are being violated and you don't care just because you aren't a terrorist or doing anything illegal? Seriously? That's your logic? |
Ok. Can we at least grasp that the government is on trial here, not MS? Because if the federal government demands information to any american company/subsidiary, they would have to comply. MS getting fingered out is just wrong.
But yes, that is my stance. My rights? My life is no different then when I didn't know about this. Why should I care if I have nothing to hide? I am a 100% believer in the greater good.
Theres a lot of self entitlement going on here and many people here take the country they live in, and the relative safety of their day-to-day lives, for serious granted. Keep preaching, and well see what you say if god forbid your local subway station gets blown up.

I don't have anything to hide either, that doesn't meant that I enjoy being monitored or having data collected about me.
I know I can't control data on me from being collected but I can control how much. Not buying an Xbox One is one less device that collects my data.
Maybe if enough people stop buying products from these companies who are collecting data, they'll stop doing it. This applies to more than just Microsoft.

I've got to ask who your cell phone and home phone service is through. Do you trust them? Knowing that they give all your info to the NSA. What about your ISP? Same thing. The problem isn't these companies, the problem is our government.

It's people trying to sell you something. Some days they do a better job convincing you than others, some days they fall flat on their face, but if you're diluting yourself into thinking that they at any point care about anything more than your money.....you're very much mistaken. |
I'm sorry but statements like these shows MS has a lot of abusive relationships with their customers:
"It's nothing really, I'll just send it in for repair. I like a break from gaming."
"All corporations do this, it's just Love."
"No it's my fault the 360 destroyed some of my discs, I have to be more careful." (Real quote from my 360 friend, and the only one that still is a 360 guy).
"Of course it overheats, all consoles do sometimes. I understand that unlike some people."
"I just fell down the stairs, I have to learn!" LOL

Its just not possible. If you want a device that connects to the internet(or connects to any form of communication cell phones, telephones, radio waves), it will be used to collect data on you. We need a government overhaul, but I doubt that would happen.
| The government does NOT care about petty illigal activites, but potential threats to national security. Your cell phone calls are recorded and can be tapped into, your cable box tracks what channels you watch and the times you watch them. MS did do something wrong, all that DRM crap. Happy? But Kinect being included is to have a unified userbase, as opposed to 360 kinect userbase. Spying is not MS's top priority and it never was. Its responses like yours that paint a picture of the minds of certain individuals. Get over yourself, MS doesn't care to wacth you play Skyrim in your underwear for 4 hours straight in the hopes you say something illegal. |
XBot: "Yes Microsoft. Thank you for telling me what to believe. Hey why are you covered in blood holding a knife over that body?"
MS: "It's not a body, and this isn't a knife. I am cleaning! Go to bed!"
XBot: "Yes honey."

Personally speaking, Microsoft cannot be trusted, just like I don't trust AT&T. The question at hand is are there alternatives and do other people like them? Cant really argue with those two things. This is why competition is good.
People know that kinect is turned off when you turn the console completely off so not leaving it in the low power state and you can turn it off from the menu

You're saying the exact same thing sales is saying. Clearly you are ok with data being collected on you to a certain extent. Otherwise you would not own a PS3 and you would not be posting this message on the Internet, whether it's from a PC, a phone, or your PS3. Hell, I would love to see a breakdown of all these tin foil hatters in this thread and what they are using to post. I would bet a majority of them are posting via a PC/laptop with a camera attached. So again, everyone "accepts it", if the product is worth it.
The Xbox One is worth it to him. You are buying a PS4 instead, and it will also collect data on you.
