Forums - Microsoft - Can we trust Microsoft anymore?

Ok we get it. MS is the devil and Sonys corporate mission is to better the lives of gamers everywhere.

I swear this demonization of MS is getting out of hand.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Around the Network

One of the main features used is Skype. Skype has been giving away video and audio calls over the last 3 years.

Skype is owned by MS. MS is a big player in the NSA scandal.

Can I trust them right now? Absolutely not.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

We should all stop using our phones and cable boxes then......

Furthermore, using "trust" and a corporation in the same sentence. Gimme a break. I trust my family and loved ones, why would I begin to trust a corporation?

If you read between the lines, this is a smear campaign on MS.

We get it already ms is the devil. Sony is god. give it a rest already

Has absolutely nothing to do with Sony, open your eyes and take off the blinders.

It has everything to do with them as they are the direct beneficiary of this new wave of smearing on MS's part.

Our internet, phone, and cable boxes are monitored, but thats just fine. This however is a total outrage. Gimme a break. This stuff is meant to make Sony look better.

i think they will bring back DRM & family sharing mid/late-gen

After reading that article, I don't see why ANYONE would trust Kinect 2.0 at this point, like seriously.

There's that word again....trust

Do you trust your insurance company?

We're talking about business. They provide a service, and try to sell you on it's value. You can decide for yourself if that service seems worthwhile to you. And as for this whole "spying" thing, be it kinect, Skype, your smartphone, or whatever.....in the world we live in, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if government organisations are actually tapped in to just about everything, and can have access to whatever info they want. Thing is though, I'm not that interesting that they will particularly care about anything I do. I doubt you are. I doubt anyone here is.

People panic about their privacy so much, but don't even realise how precious little of it you have anyway in today's world. It's an idea. We live in the digital age. Anyone who really wants to access your info can find a way to do so, and it wouldn't even be that much trouble.

If your privacy is such a huge issue for you, I suggest you never connect to the internet, throw away every device capable of it, and cut all ties with anyone else who makes use of it.

And you're assuming that whatever I do in my real life, which you personally know nothing of, isn't illegal or something the government would like to tap into.  The mind-boggling thing here is that Kinect, an always on fucking camera will be in your living room, the only way to really turn it off is to unplug it, otherwise you couldn't say "Xbox On" and suddenly it's on, how could you trust a fucking camera being always on in your living room?

My cell phone isn't always on, fuck my cell phone is in my pocket 90% of the time, where the speaker is inaudible and the cameras can't pick up anything outside, I don't have a webcam on my PC, and even if my Internet sites are being monitored, it's y'know, less of a fucking deal than a fucking camera in  my bedroom/living room.

You Microsoft fanboys will defend anything, seriously, I have yet to see a Microsoft fanboy acknowledge Microsoft did anything wrong, ever on this site and you guys defending this madness is just the icing on the cake.

The government does NOT care about petty illigal activites, but potential threats to national security. Your cell phone calls are recorded and can be tapped into, your cable box tracks what channels you watch and the times you watch them.

MS did do something wrong, all that DRM crap. Happy? But Kinect being included is to have a unified userbase, as opposed to 360 kinect userbase. Spying is not MS's top priority and it never was. Its responses like yours that paint a picture of the minds of certain individuals. Get over yourself, MS doesn't care to wacth you play Skyrim in your underwear for 4 hours straight in the hopes you say something illegal.

Not really anything new, but the timing of this whole thing was pretty bad for the ms perception.. With the nsa/ms involvement and ms announcing mandatory kinect, it's understandable that some would get paranoid. Others are doing it too, but the focus gaming wise is on the new xbox one with the mandatory kinect requirement at the moment.

Of course not. That much should be obvious. If anyone is buying the Xbox One it should be because of Halo or Forza or something. I don't think anyone really has trust in Microsoft at this point.

Your rights are being violated and you don't care just because you aren't a terrorist or doing anything illegal?

Seriously? That's your logic?
