Super Mario Bros. is slightly outpacing Donkey Kong Country, for now. I could easily be very impressed by Retro's new offering for the Wii U, and DKC might just overtake SMB.

However, I don't even see how RayMan could possibly even have a place in this "tournament." Compared to the likes of SMB, DKC, and Sonic, he's just an average platformer. Nothing that seems to impress me too much.

(I enjoy 3D Sonic games such as Colors more, for some reason. Sorry Smeags! )

I've played DKCR, Rayman Origins, all LPB's and NSMBW and my ranking would be:

1. Donkey Kong Country Returns
2. Rayman Origins
3. All LPB's
Last. NSMBW

Super Mario Bros. > Donkey Kong Country > Sonic > Rayman

Mario wins basically because of the old games. If this tournament would include the 3D games it's no contest; Mario by a landslide. It'll actually make things worse for Sonic though. If Yoshi's Island was included though, that beats out these others including the rest of 2D Mario combined. Other franchises, most notably Crash Bandicoot, would beat Sonic and Rayman too.

The 4th option was sonic, not LBP.

As a series, Super Mario is the best. Some other platform games might surpass recent installments of the series, but taken together Super Mario is pretty untouchable. Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros., etc.

Mario and Sonic are the standard for me. Then DK and Rayman and others.

Sonic. The fluidity of momentum-based physics and the mix of both speed sections and precision sections was the best.

And the music of those old games is awesome too.

So what? Why should I mention it if I have no opinion on it?

Never played Sonic, huh?

Not enough to rate it. Didn't like the little I've played though.
