Forums - Microsoft - Is this the reason why kinect is mandatory ?

God forbid you will actually use it for the convienence.

Voice search marketplace, skype with ppl, headset free voice commands in gaming.

I mean cmon, some gamers mindsets...... Like a bunch of seniors that refuse to embrace modern conveniences.

Skype with ppl: What i have been doing centuries with a normal mic or webcam.

Headset free voice commands in gaming: Who dosn't prefer a nice quality headset?

Wow, such a revolution!!! Total innovation which is totally deserved of 100$!! /sarcasm

a nice quality headset??? I have yet to see a quality mic on any high end headset and I have a 300 bucks TB one.... and even that I only use it when people in the household need silence because nothing is better than my 5.1 with no headset at all so I welcome with open arm a way better mic on Kinect 2.... and I'd much rather Skype in full HD while playing (with no headset especially with that heat) than be at my desk or holding my tablet or smartphone to do so....

so yeah it is innovation.... but hey you know you can also use a dial up connection or even paper mail if you want.... after all convenience at a premium is not needed for you....

I'm finding less and less reasons to visit this website. This thread is just another reason why I should stop coming here.

the fact that you are banned currently means the site is feeling the same way about you. You like Microsoft and you aren't a fan of Sony, I mean you could literally put that as your signiture and it would then allow you to put something else in any of your posts.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I assume you have never use a good headset in your whole life.

Anyway... you don't need to wait until Kinect 2 to have a camera with micro, you have that in PS Eye and the actual Kinect.

But yeah, it is a totally innovation.

LOL

I love to see people fooling themselves, just because their favourite console company dosn't offer any other option.

Well, let me tell ya  ... if everybody and all gamers welcomed kinect with open arms as the biggest and brightest invention since sliced bread, I wouldn't start this topic. And I'm not sure what it will add to the gaming experience, all I know is that most gamers are perfectly happy with a descent controller and a descent headset. But if you can't wait to surf the internet and stuff via Kinect I hope you have a great time, and really I mean that.
But on a side note: there's nothing wrong with improving good things we allready have. If it ain't broken, why would someone try to fix it ?
I personally like the way how Sony improves their PS+ services, but on the other hand I still prefer Spotify over Sony's Music Unlimited.

I know everybody makes mistakes every now and then .. but when companies keep making 'mistakes' over and over again while they obviously don't care about their customers and fans, maybe they need to think about their attitude, policies and culture.

And thanks to disolitude for pointing out VAST 3.0, but that doesn't make my theory in the OP completely invalid, cause I'm sure the XBox One in combination with the  Silverlight component will be able to interprete XML as well.
Instead, it could prove mine and theprofo00's points that the Azure cloud is going to be deployed as an intelligent and hybrid commercials server framework.

Never said or implied everyone is pro-Kinect.
Never said or implied it's the "biggest and brightest innovation since sliced bread".
Never said anything about surfing the Internet via Kinect.

And no thanks to an industry where people just try to improve what we already have instead of trying new things. Also, as a Sony and MS customer, I don't notice any difference when it comes to how much they "care" about me. To say any company doesn't "care" about their customers is just nonsense. If companies don't care about their customers then those customers find new companies to be customers of. Just look at what MS did with the Xbox One. Clearly they must care about the opinions of their potential customers or we'd still have all the DRM stuff, good and bad.

Yea there is no other product that would do it better. What a min. My phone has all that and is online, listening all the time. Phones are way better because it tracks where you go and your parterns.

Can't play Titanfall on my droid.

@NinjaHanzo
In my lifetime I had a Hi-Fi studio grade 6 speaker X2 senheiser headset in the 90s and now a U320 senheiser and a TB XP400
none of them have anything on my H/K AVR745, 5 Klipsch XX52 series speakers and Velodyne DLS serie subwoofer.... then again a single speaker cost the price of one headset and the AVR was more expensive than a high end Samsung or Panasonic TV..... but yeah I never had quality headset whatever dude.....

and while the Kinect has SOFTWARE difficulties to cancel my set up those mics are already of higher quality than most of the mics you find in gaming headset except maybe the senheiser but being 4 aray mics offsets that....
the Kinect 2 if it has the actual improvement we have seen so far will absolutely crush those.... so yeah I'm fooling myself tsssss...

you should review your basic physic 101 classes I believe....

and yeah it is innovation, it is the cheapest aim to mass market, 3d tracking video and audio array tracking device ever created with that kind of tech.... a couple years ago if you had wanted anything remotely close to the Kinect tech you would have had to shell out several thousands of dollars.....

I don't even know why I'm explaining myself to someone as short sighted and close minded as you are....

MS is not my favorite company it is only the company providing me with the most convenient experience for my personal needs and tastes at a price I'm willing to pay..... Sony on the other hand is on my all time black list since the late 90s on principles and because I always found a better quality/price ratio and convenience with other manufacturer but that's an other debate....

Yeah, you almost convince me.

Until i read again this awesome sentence:

I love Kinect.... probably the best natural filter MS could have found.... all the narrow minded and conspiracy theorist will be purged from the XBL user base....

Then i just remember you're just a fanboy giving some hilarious and lame excuses.

So ok, whatever... enjoy your "innovation" (LOL)

THe theory that the Kinect is watching you is rather funny.  In a sense, anyone who has a modern laptop with a camera built in or a cell phone with a camera built in is being watched.  UH OH, didn't think of that did you!!!  Are they watching you is the real question.  THe short answer is no, as it's not economically feasible to do so.  If you are really ignorant enogh to believe that, then you will need to buy the XBone ASAP.  Why you ask?  Well, apparently the CLOUD is 50X more powerful than the PS4 ever will be.  THat's what you are saying if you think that they have a computer analyzing your every move and then making all sorts of decisions to record you or your conversation.  Noyt only record it, but then cater the information being presented to you based on that recorded conversation.  THe group of people who believe that M$ or any other company would go to that length is definately a bit out there and need to order new tin foil hats.  Do those capabilities exist in technology?  Yes they do.  But, to do it on the scale that people are talking about would be crazy!  Let alone, you would need a MASSIVE conspiracy to do it.  You need hundreds if not thousands of programmers putting it together and hundreds if not thousands of people updating and maintaining the servers.  Then you need tens of thousands of data storage centers to put this incredible amount of info into, with thousands of more people maintaining those sytems.  So, have any of the people suggesting this monitoring system even thought of this?  Probably not, they wouldn't think past the first step.  Just think, of the tens of thousands of people that would need to be involved in this conspiracy, not one of them would tell anyone?
