Forums - Nintendo - NIntendo could spit in third parties faces, if they would just go with an Android like system

There are no games on Android, just apps that are shovel-ware even compared to Wii/DS shovel-ware.

wish there was a like button, and those apps wouldnt even be useful in the house makign it more redundant

What's the point ? It's not like Nintendo will print money with games downloaded via the Google Play Store. That revenue still belongs to Google. So Nintendo would be creating a competitor on its own platform.

Customers don't have unlimited supplies of money and time. The more they spend on Android games, the less they can spend for WiiU games.

yeah, heres the thing, the gamepad is NOT a tablet, so the idea already fails. Unless Ninty can update it to make it actually portable, but i dont see that happening or being possible

You can't just put a software update and make the gamepad a tablet. The gamepad has no CPU or GPU. It's a second screen, just like a TV or monitor but smaller. Like a normal TV (not smart TV) can't do what a tablet does, the gamepad can't either. They would have to release a new Nintendo branded tablet for this whole thing to work, but I don't think Nintendo want any part of that. It would be easier for them to just release their titles on all existing bajillion tablets rather than make a proprietory tablet. But I don't think I want Nintendo to make tablet games.

I thought they developed tool kits to let people port apple and android games to Wii U?

Mind you these piss me off so I wouldn't get them, so I hope they are put in a section away form the good games.

Personally I think the gamepad was a terrible idea, they should have gone in the opposite direction and been everything a tablet isn't. But if they had to go the touchscreen way, then I think they should have made the gamepad a fullout tablet with Android but a Nintendo Store (like Ouya has a Ouya store not Google Play). It'd allow remote play of your console games and direct play of all the e-shop games (and other Android games - which Nintendo would profit from if they are selling through their store)

But this sort of OS thing is NOT Nintendo's strenght and would be a huge distraction for them (look at how much trouble they are having with WiiU's simple OS). Overall I think it'd be a bad idea as it'd cheapen the value of Nintendo's IPs. I mean, really, would you still pay $30 for Brain Academy, Rhythym Heaven or Wario and Watch if you have free - $15 apps? Unlikely. This devaluing is happening anyway but no need for Nintendo to shoot themselves in the foot. But it'd still have sold 10x's better than what WiiU is doing now. Even at a higher price point.

It blows my mind that people keep thinking Android is some kind of recipe for success.

There are probably a hundred Android OEMs out there, and only one of them is making a notable profit from the platform. Even Google isn't making substantial money from the platform. Why the hell would Nintendo place it all on 29 black?

Fuck third party console and handheld developers!

It would get 100 games a day for the Gamepad if they would go with Android or Apple or amazon or anything else.

A tablet with the Nintendo games! That would be the selling point. Then if I was bored waiting for a Nintendo game, I could just download The Lone Ranger official tablet game or whatever new crazy game that came out that day alone. I really do not know why they are against this.

Problem solved. Quickly. No waiting for games or a price reduction or even for Christmas.

So you want Nintendo to turn thei console into an OUYA? Yeah there's a recipe for success.
