Forums - General - Has anyone here worked at a fast food place particularly like mcdonalds?

Finished my 2nd day at Mickey Ds and this guy I work with told me working at mcdonalds sort of never stops because once we stop working we will hear crap like we are still at work and of course I know he is right already. The worst part of it is trying to get it out of your head after working with the grill for hours and hearing constant beeping remind you something is done or needs to be turned over, etc. Not a hard job and not an easy one either especially when you work with some dick who expects you to automatically know everything right away.

I used to work at Subway, it wasn't that bad. Nothing is fresh there though.

How clean is (your) McDonald's? At my Subway a lot of the employees would not wash their hands (even after wiping their nose/touching something dirty/touching their skin/touching their clothes, etc. etc.), and would reuse knives for different things. I refuse to eat at SUbway because of it. I've also seen employees extend expiration dates for food. Though they were all good at making sure temps were correct (except one)

i heard US McDonalds are designed in away that illiterate people are able to work at every position, even the cash register, is that true?

A friend of mine used to say that the only difference between US and European McDonalds is that in the US you can eat from the floor.

...and in Europe you won't find any food to eat on the floor.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Well thats how McDonald's work... One strictly timed machine.. There is no room to express yourself.. Surely you knew this when you applied for the job?

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Don't even try.
It is HORRIBLE for what i've heard.

It's only my 2nd day but I really only see people wash their hands once in awhile at least over by the grill and prep. I hardly ever see people change cloves/use the right one. I mean I don't like changing my cloves all the time either, it is a pain in the ass but I do probably over several times throughout my shift. Especially the cloves we are supposed to use to touch raw meat. It isn't even easy to be 100% safe at least in my position where I dont get much time to do anything other than cook and watch the food.

I used to work at Wendy's and it wasn't bad. I worked full time and did the open work so I had to get up early and do prep for breakfast and take out trash. Mornings are the best time to work because everyone is still asleep and it's usually slow. If I was you, I'd ask for morning shift.

i work at kfc, and it sucks

I get around 25-30 hours a week.. which sucks even more

So many hot girls there though, like hell i'm leaving

Not a morning person.

@McDonaldsGuy
I stopped eating at Subway a long time ago. I'm strictly a Jimmy John's guy now. Subway is disgusting and I get a stomach ache every time I eat it. I would be a strictly Jersey Mike's guy but there aren't any by me anymore.
