How do you get those statistics?

Thank you for providing information that has been repeated numerous times on here. Still doesnt answer all the issues though |
You asked:
It may be a huge market but is it one that will buy their games?
You then go on to say:
Most Indie games start out between 9.99-14.99. How well do games at those prices sell?
and finally
I believe every game on the top 100 games sold on Android is 4.99 or less, Minecraft being the exception at 6.99.
If Xbox LIVE Indie Games range sell when priced between $1.00 and $10.00, then what do you you expect will happen if the game is available on Xbox One, Windows 8, or Windows Phone 8? Do you think they won't sell if they already sell?
One of the most popular games on Indie Games is "I made a game with Zombies in it" with over 308,000 copies sold. Another extremely popular game, FotressCraft, sold 750,000 units. So, yes. I think there is a market for independent developers to create inexpensive games.
What other question do you ask that wasn't answered in my original comment? You already stated that the best selling games sell for less then $10.00 on Android phones. I stated Xbox Indie Games start out at $1.00. Thus, by logical extension, Xbox Live Indie Games would sell well. Since me saying it probably isn't good enough for you, I gave you some examples of how well some of the indie games have sold. Self-published.
asking a lot here lol.... info 3 month old that's gonna be hard to find again... well what I can tell you was that it was an article of the French counterpart of WPcentral or Winrumor (meaning the number one website for windows related info in French pretty much) doing an analysis of the app store market.... the info was coming from either Distimo.com or some other website alike.... I'm looking for it right now but I don't guaranty you I'll find it...
then again this is more a result of the high volume of apps and the even higher volume of duplication of apps in the google play store....

I dunno about this. It seems like they risking the support of Xb1 for the support of mobile.
And yes thats potentially a bigger market but MS doesnt really have enough % marketshare for Smartphone or tablets to really show the benefits.
The other issue about this is that the game will need to be touch friendly...which not every developer will be willing to do.
Just seems like this is something that could potentially backfire.
mea maxima culpa.... it wasn't google play it was apple appstore.... and it was about a year ago (the data, not the article)
here is what I found this is not the original articles I read but that's better than nothing right....

anyway my point being a big store field with lots of crapy apps self-published might not be the best place to make money..... it's like with brick and mortar shops.... yeah you might have a cheaper spot at the local black market where you can put whatever you want and there is a lot of passage due to the amount of sellers.... but will it be more efficient for your type of goods than being in a fancy 1st class mall if your product deserves that placement....
(it's very summarized but that's pretty much how I feel about it)
but we'll see....
anyway I'm more interested by actual games on console than indie.... I play indie mostly on PC or smartphone..... that might be why I don't understand the dev position... here they have a solution to publish on all 3 platform and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.... I'm sure they have more potential customer on PC and smartphone.... but hey if they are stubborn and want to do console only... it's their choice after all they are devs not economist

That's a smart thing to do and could actually benefit indies more since they could probably make more money from selling the game as an app rather than as a game on Xbox 1.

Yes, I don't think they will sell even if they already sell. Its 2 completely different gaming markets, the types of games that sell on phone don't normally sell well on consoles and vice versa. OK, half of them meet the price range that sell well on mobile devices. But meeting the right price doesn't mean they will sell well, there is no logical extension to be made there, only that they have a better potential to sell than games that are more expensive.
When i said it doesn't answer all the issues I wasnt just referring to what I was saying. Plus if what the one thing that was posted is true, there is no self publishing on Xbox One, that makes for an even bigger problem for indies as that is one of the things they want to be able to do.
