Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Have Nintendo consoles always been the red headed step child?

So?

Yes since wii era 28 35.44%

Yes since wii u 4 5.06%

Yes since sooner(specify) 20 25.32%

No 27 34.18%

Total:79

I was browsing various sites and most people seem to treat the wii u as the red headed step child of the consoles. It was mostly on gaf and various other sites.  So, has Nintendo consoles always been categorized this way or did it start since the wii era? Was it a diff time?

Gamecube, didn't that get laughed at because of its shape?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Why, I gave yes or no choices during specific era's that it may have started from?

History started yesterday.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

It started off with the SNES after 3rd parties got fed up with Nintendo's policies and Sega courted them on that and used aggressive marketing against Nintendo. It then took on a life of its own when Sony entered the market, Sony being the "big" company that it is.

Moreover, Nintendo though holding an iron fist internally and externally (3rd parties) with Yamauchi back in the day, never really bit back much after the N64 and into the gamecube era. They were pre-emptively emasculated.

The Wii actually provided Nintendo with a well-needed boost in image. But at a price, its image in the non-casual segment was hurt by its emphasis on the non-gamer content and marketing.

LoL. Sorry, I'll explain; Many young people don't have a good understanding of things that took place before they become aware of it. Your question is rather simple to answer because if you study the history of the gaming industry since the 3rd gen on you'll see history repeating, ebbing and flowing. : )
