Forums - Microsoft - AllThingsD: Don Mattrick is leaving Microsoft, possibly joining Zynga as CEO

lol Don was actually on the short list to be promoted..... but I guess you guys are right he should have been fired or has been or whatever rocks your boat.... I'm not gonna argue... arguing for MS here is too risky.... I loled at Sony being a likable company though, so much liked if they keep the current track record they'll be the new Kodak....

*ducks under a rock*

well then they need to stop doing negative crap, its really that easy.

some of the stuff  people were so deranged about was totally blown out of proportion

like what? DRM? always online? forced kinect? archaic "used" game systems? I think they all received the appropiate responses.

beside DRM the rest is pretty minor in my opinion... used game wasn't dead it was limited to specific retailers which represent more than 90% of the market anyway.... forced kinect is quiet lame IMO nothing is really forced.... people are just being mad it is 100 more it be the same price they wouldn't care about kinect.... and the NSA mess wouldn't be top news right now the unplug part would be irrelevant..... and the always online would have sucked for some but it is still a minority looking at how many XBL gold there are.... and the armed force excuse please..... don't they have better things to do than frag more people ingame while being on tax payers pay roll ???? and nobody asked them to enlist in the first place..... I have nothing against the troops and support them... but this being a valid point come on.... and why not a solar powered SKU also because some people live in remote areas in poor countries and don't have in house power.....

as if zynga didn't already have enough problems...

Yeah, because a company that's doing extremely well instead right now would need to hire new help...

They wouldn't.

Called him being fired the day after E3, and yes this is him being pushed out quietly so as to save face, screwed up xbox one policies and launch so so badly. This is only a good thing for xbox going forward.

He wasn't fired. Pachter was predicting he would leave way before the Xbox reveal.

Dunno about that i do know MS are having a management reshuffle and it would of been quite easy for them to say your role is now redundant, you might want to start looking elsewhere. He really could not of done a worse job over seeing the Xbox One launch and policies.

I don't get why people are upset in here about HappyD mentioning Jack Tretton. It's a comparison, this happens all the time on VGC.

Still, I think Don clearly won the "I am a Douche" Award.

yet every financial reported him as being on the short list to be promoted in that shuffle.... the couple millions of angry gamers post E3 that are a huge minority even if they like to think otherwise did not change that..... but hey who am I kidding... everybody outside of the financial world hates him no matter what.... it reminds me the MS hatred during Gates era, every geek hated the guy yet he was probably one of the best CEO.... regular people perception for that kind of position is quiet irrelevant.... hard cold financial data is all that matters....

key word here being "opinion", which you are in the minority. Obviously alot of people were upset enough, otherwise they wouldnt have done a 180

not a lot of people since there isn't a lot of people already aware of anything about PS4 or XB1 do you really think the 100millions of gamers out there are all like us following game news 5month prior launch.... people are mostly not that involved... the main reason they turned around was a combination of things but mostly gamestop blocking pre sales which meant a huge hit on there launch.... their partnership with retail is more valuable than any bitching from the tiny hardcore game news followers.... that's the main reason we will not see any more changes even if people are still bitching at other things like kinect.....

No it hasnt occured because it doesnt even make sense. What is the cloud supposed to do? THey still never cleared that up? Why would they need always online? they never cleared that up. THey didnt clear anything up and thats why people took the piss out of them. I dont buy for a 2nd that its needs to be always online for it to work, especially since they took that out and said cloud would not be affected. So i come to the conclusion it was BS to begin with.

Games have nothing to do with the console functions. We wanted clarification on xbone's policies, we got a bunch of PR crap till they said screw it, no one is buying this and reversed. We know games will come. I personally dont need to see 20 exclusives off the bat. KZ4 and new Infamous got my attention along with the other games

@1stpara. I respect your opinion but I don't share it. I understand your points about clarity being needed, but I stand by my point that I'm not sure the games were ready to support all the functions that were out of the box for the one as part of a long-term vision. You're free to disagree.

@2ndpara. My point was secrecy. Whether for functions or games, some companies do employ secrecy prior to launch, it's not atypical.

Agree to disagree Oni.
