Forums - General - I'm about to get into my first real fight. UPDATE: he came to my house and surprised me.

Oh...and if he attacks you and you can't fight back you should call the police. : )

LOL if you are basing your fighting technique on the experience of fighting with your brothers and dad you username will change from oneHappyGamer:) to oneCryingDudet:(

personally i dont get in fights, im too old to go around punching people, its just not mature. personally im tall and i have a strong body, when ever i got into fights in the past i beat the shit out of people, i cant really give you advice honestly because i used to fight based on extinct.

well my only piece of advice is dont do something you might regret, if you beat him up, would he sue? would he call the cops? what if he breaks a bone or a joint and its permanently damaged? what if he hits one of your eyes and it damages your eye sight? is this fight really worth it because a stupid dude that is jealous of you because a girl you dont even date anymore?

well considering my dad was mad and trying to beat me up, I think I can handle this fight. I'm not new to physical pain, I have fallen down a cliff, had about a dozen broken bones throughout my life, got hit by a series of 50 km/h bikers (funy story, but for another time) among other things, I think I can handle it. but thats just it, I "think" i can, im not really certain cause I have never been in an actual fight and it may be worse then it sounds.

I have no idea if he will sue, but he challanged me, and I will battle him with dignity and pride. I will quit as soon as he wants to stop (or when he beats me) I wont hit him when he's down, no hitting in the croch or poking in the eyes. I don't know how I can get sued for that.

I will hope he plays it fair like I do, but im not going to back down out of this, even if it means getting seriously hurt with broken bones and such. but im young, and a quick healer so I should be fine eventually if that does happen.

"How much can you possibly know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?"

"After fighting everything else in your life has the volume turned down. You could deal with anything. After fighting you really feel incredible - somehow you just get turned off - in a good way. You stop worrying, you start living in the moment, you somehow feel more powerful - just as Tyler said - you feel like you can deal with anything."

Just so you know, don't take this post serious.  Fight Club's message was never about fighting.  It was about living in the moment.  You really shouldn't fight unless it is actual sport with rules etc.

Do yourself a favor, and don't.

Horseplay is one thing, but getting into an actual fight if you can avoid it is just dumb. Sure, you might get a rush, but if one of you doesn't know what you're doing, someone can get really hurt.

I was on the wrestling team at my high school, which means there was a degree of safety and supervision you won't have in a real fight. And I still cracked two bones, tore ligaments in my knee, and personally witnessed 2 separate dislocations, all during my first (and only) season. I also went up against a guy about 4 inches taller than me who I literally outmassed 2:1, and who bent me in pretzel within 5 seconds.

If you have to fight, don't do anything fancy. And if you're going for submission, be careful with your holds. You want to be VERY careful with your holds.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Having been in many a punch on back in my day my words of advice are as follows....

If he has a longer reach, get him to ground as fast as possible and use speed for quick punches to the face/head.

If you are going toe to toe standing up then watch his shoulders for indications of incoming punches and block/dodge accordingly.

Also don't take too big of a backswing. It makes it easy to read your punches.
