MGSV did that right. ;o |
MGSV showed off a good deal of gameplay variety and I'm glad to see it delivering on the promise of open-world stealth (far more so than a certain Ubisoft franchise). Location-wise, I'm not thrilled, but I also know that there's only so much one can do with Afghanistan.

Me and you are different then. A game like MGSV looks more impressive and realistic than Mario Kart 8. Calling Mario Kart 8 graphics king sounds weird, when you look at the games that are on PS4/Xbox One. And yes, graphics means high polygon counts to me. |
By that logic, The Croods is visually superrior to Fantasia.

I took another look at the link you posted and I do now see a clear difference between the smoothness/blur between the 15fps and 60fps. The difference between 30fps and 60fps is definitely less noticeable though. A higher refresh rate does definitely increase the smoothness of imagery in gaming. I'd like to see a comparison between 120fps and 60 fps to see if there is any noticeable difference.
I still think that the difference especially in the example you gave is fairly negligible. It would be interesting to see game comparisons of say BF3 on PC.

I'm fairly confident that when we finally see "Zelda U" unveiled, many pants shall be shat. It gets my preemptive vote.
will MS cloud bring more graphic power to XB one games?
if so, i think that a MS exclusive will be the most impressive. Maybe Ryse.

Not really. Comparing classic cel animation to polygon based CGI work, is about the same as trying to compare sprite based graphics to polygon graphics. It's pointless. Two different things. Muramasa: The Demon Blade was hands-down MUCH better looking, as far as straight-up visual beauty goes, than most games on any console or PC last gen. But that's apples and oranges, because that was hand-drawn sprites versus polygonal graphics. In my personal opinion, the best looking sprites are always going to trump the best looking polygons.
On the same token, even the best CGI film couldn't really be "visually superior" to Fantasia, because Fantasia was and is a drop dead gorgeous piece of painstakingly crafted, loving made hand drawn masterpieceness. 3D can't be "superior" to 2D, because they're two different things. I get what you were trying to say, and that you weren't personally saying Croods WAS superior to Fantasia. But I just thought I'd throw that all out there anyway.

This tool does a much better job: http://frames-per-second.appspot.com/
You can play around with the speeds and motion blur effects. This really helps show how and what the difference between different frame rates come into play. So I do concede to your previous points that there is/can be a definitive difference. However, looking at these factors I'd have to say it is not a stand alone issue.
