Super Mario 64 revolutionized everything, OoT built on that revolution, both are amazing games and deserve high ratings IMO.

EDIT: so, Oot is actually the highest game of all time eh? it deserves it!

Super Mario 64. I was a gamer for ten years before its release. SM64 in '96 was the moment i waited for all my life. tLoZ OoT had as much replay but it came after the initial shock of 3D made its peak.

Zelda definitely. I gave up on Mario 64 as I had too much trouble judging depth with the simple lighting. Zelda was great from start to finish.

Both of these games blew my mind in the mid-90s and were a big part of my preteens and early teens. I hate being indecisive, but it would be impossible for me to pick one over the other. The N64 just barely edges out the Wii as my favorite console of all time.

Ocarina of Time,

Mario 64 was kind of disappointing. While it was interesting to see Mario in 3D, the game didn't have the same sort of bang as Mario 3 or Mario World. It felt very bare-bones compared to those older Mario games. It wasn't as fun, and didn't feel half as deep. The world was very small feeling compared to old Mario games.

Ocarina of Time was like Link to the Past on steroids and speed. It was deeper, more interesting, more awe inspiring, and fun compared to Link to the Past. The feeling of playing Ocarina of Time just felt more awesome than Mario 64, there had been nothing to really compare that to aside from Mario 3.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

the controls and pacing of OoT were better imo.

Ocarina has a slight edge since it was my first Zelda game. And I preferred 2D Mario until Galaxy, Galaxy 2, and 3D Land collectively changed my opinion.

I like this person. you are correct. Mario was fine for its time, but many plateformers came soon after that did much better.

Ocarina was not matched for years.

I disagree, aside from a few Rare platformers (the Banjo games and a arguement can be made for Donkey Kong 64) and Rayman 2, few 3D platformers reached the heights of SM64 until the following generation.

Super Mario 64 was the first game that blew my expectations of how a 3-Dimensional game can be presented, I still get the urge to play this game even to this day (hope to the mother of Jesus and God almighty that the WiiU E-shop service is working for the West Indies region, PLEASE!!!) and while OOT followed, it did not impress me as much, but did improved the building block that SM64 set to accomplish.

But I will say at a technical standpoint, The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time presented 3D games better! ;)
