Why are you telling us about Vega? This isn't the Mining Megathread.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Vega isn't good for mining either, until AMD launches a patch for it (and then say complain that miners grab them all and leave no inventory for gamers, but that's another story).

Anyway, I just thought that someone could have bought one and be interested in it.

PCI-E speeds can be super important for compute tasks. And SSD's of course.

Plus... If Intel continues to release CPU's with fewer PCI-E Lanes, then faster lanes become more important to make up the difference.
For instance... An 8x PCI-E 4.0 slot = 16x PCI-E 3.0 slot.
Or... A 4x PCI-E 5.0 Slot = 16x PCI-E 3.0 slot in terms of bandwidth.

Absolver pulls in over 18,000 concurrent players despite server struggles
http://www.pcgamer.com/absolver-pulls-in-over-18000-concurrent-players-despite-server-struggles/
Absolver has earned a spot on Steam's list of the top games by current player count, at the moment sitting just above Football Manager 2016 with over 10,000 players. Its all-time peak, according to Steam Charts, is 18,921 concurrent players—not too shabby for a new developer, and according to Devolver Digital's 'CFO' it's the publisher's biggest launch yet. (Though it bears noting that Fork Parker isn't a real person.)

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus teaser stars a Nazi superhero called Blitzmensch
http://www.pcgamer.com/wolfenstein-2-the-new-colossus-teaser-stars-a-nazi-superhero-called-blitzmensch/
I loved the old '60s Batman television series when I was growing up (and hey, I still do). So even though this new "Blitzmensch" teaser for Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is more about setting the stage rather than showing off the game, it does such a great job of nailing the ambiance of its inspiration that it really is worth a watch. (And now I've got that stupid "Bliiiiiiitzmennnnnsch!" song stuck in my head.)

Obsidian almost made a Game of Thrones RPG
http://www.pcgamer.com/obsidian-almost-made-a-game-of-thrones-rpg/
Game of Thrones is everywhere. It's inescapable. I don't even watch it, and yet, I feel like the new episode has been spoiled for me. But that wasn't the case back in 2005, when George R. R. Martin's novels were still (relatively) obscure and the TV series hadn't even been considered.
So you can understand why Obsidian might think twice about making a game adaptation. The studio, famous for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Pillars of Eternity (among many others), declined to take on the project when EA Partners approached them in 2005, according to an interview with co-founder Feargus Urquhart over on Eurogamer.

Earlier this year, I stumbled upon Vicn's Glenmoril Skyrim mod—a ten-quest episode that brought From Software's Bloodborne to Tamriel. In the process I discovered Vigilant, another of Vicn's creations, which adds a splash of Dark Souls to the fifth Elder Scrolls instalment.
Boasting four, fully-translated and voiced episodes, Vigilant has now been updated to work with Skyrim's Special Edition. This seems a good a reason as any to write about it today.

Pathologic remake is now called Pathologic 2 and has a very strange trailer
http://www.pcgamer.com/pathologic-remake-is-now-called-pathologic-2-and-has-a-very-strange-trailer/
Pathologic is a first-person psychological horror-adventure survival RPG sort of thing—it's hard to nail it down, really—that was originally released in 2005 by Russian indie studio Ice-Pick Lodge. It was intensely, impenetrably weird, as Phil noted a few years back when the studio launched a Kickstarter campaign for a remake, an effort that proved hugely successful. But then the studio opted to update and re-release the original game as Pathologic Classic HD, while still remaking the original.

WARNING: If you have a Ryzen CPU and a Gigabyte K5 or K7 motherboard, DO NOT UPGRADE TO THE LATEST VERSION!

Latest Gigabyte X370 K7 Motherboard BIOS Broken Dynamic vCore, up to 1.7v
https://www.techpowerup.com/236659/latest-gigabyte-x370-k7-motherboard-bios-broken-dynamic-vcore-up-to-1-7v
A warning to users of Gigabyte's X370 K7 motherboard: the most recent F5 BIOS version, which was posted as a stable release on the company's BIOS support page, has been originating reports from users as having increased the dynamic voltage applied towards stratospheric values (from a "healthy CPU vCore baseline.) The problem appears to be related to the usage of Gigabyte's Dynamic vCore functionality, where users that were seeing vCore values of around 1.2v started seeing those dynamic values, as set by the motherboard, being set to a crispy 1.55v instead, at the same clocks as before the BIOS update. If you have such a motherboard, and have recently updated your BIOS to revision F5 or planned on doing so, please do yourself a favor and set vCore manually to your value of choice, compensating with LLC (Load Line Calibration) so that your CPU isn't shocked to death with additional vCore.

Update: It seems that the vCore voltage can go up to 1.7v, which has resulted in at least one claim of a fried Ryzen CPU on Gigabyte's forums. Multiple users are reporting this issue, and apparently the problem isn't limited to Gigabyte's K7 motherboard: users on the Gaming K5 motherboard are also reporting similar issues with the latest BIOS for their respective motherboard.

In summary, the latest BIOS, F5 for the K7 mobo and F7 for the K5 mobo, can change the vCore value from the nominal 1.2v up to a dangerous 1.7v, seriously damaging your CPU. Do not upgrade or, if you already did, set the vCore value to 1.2 (or the value you had before installing the new BIOS) manually.
