It's been a long time since I last played a Gears game. I'd love to hop into the latest one, but for that I'd need to shift towards Windows 10, buy a license and bother myself with 10 itself. I'd rather pass on that though, 10 isn't designed for me, nor geared towards benefiting me.

Mafia III however, is likely to be this years piss poor joke of a port, between that and the Bioshock remasters, 2K has shot it's rep and quality in the foot.

I feel like the past few years have shown us that most AAA devs out there can be quite lazy when it comes to delivering a quality port/game, compared to Indie devs and some AAA devs who put in their time and effort. I hope there comes a trend where the worst are shown for who they are and treated as such, with them having to work harder the next few releases in order to make up for their shoddy work.

Meanwhile, Gears of War 4 is optimized to a fap worthy degree

<SNIP>

Amazing the contrast between devs who put effort into their games and devs who don't.

It's an Unreal powered game, expect nothing less.
There has been so much optimization that has gone into that engine to take full advantage of the API's and PC... And nVidia and AMD have been optimizing their drivers for years... So it's kind of expected in my opinion.
Cry Engine, Frostbite also tend to be fixed quantities as well.

Still haven't found time to assemble my hardware into the case, the past week of work was crazy.
I think the coil noise of my 1080 is not that big of an issue. The PC is really quiet on idle and when I'm gaming I'm always wearing headphones, so I can't hear the PC anyway.

Probably gonna have to keep the 1080 for now and if it's not enough I will get a second one for Kingdom Come.

Before you assembly it, you should post your setup in the Ghetto thread

THE SWITCH IS COMPLETE!

Since I could finally fix the multiple monitor issues I decided it would be finally time to make the switch from POS to new rig. I used the chance to rearrange my PC corner. I put all my stuff onto the tables which brings a lot of advantages. Everything's so nice and clean now.

That claim, and I agree with you, makes me worry about DX12 and SLI/X-fire setups.

If I remember it right, in SX12 it's the devs who have to write the code to enable SLI/X-fire, it's not something AMD or Nvidia can do with their drivers. With that in mind, and the recent cases of piss poor ports, it makes me wonder what's the future of multi-GPU setups.

Hi! And welcome to the site.

Star Citizen looks amazing, even if some animations/transitions still need some work. But man, the game is taking forever to arrive.

Let's just hope they manage to finish it sooner or later. If I think those videos show just a region of just one of the many planets and solar systems the game contains, my jaw drops.

BTW I wish games like Morrowind and Gothic 1 and 2 contained the same amount of stuff in a larger world, having all that so crammed is probably their main flaw, it lowers realism and immersion a little bit and forced the creatives of the dev teams to make the worlds look larger and less crammed with tricks like impassable natural obstacles and long and twisted annoying paths to reach one place from another that actually is very close as the crow flies.

PREY TRAILER FEATURES FEMALE MORGAN
http://www.pcgamer.com/prey-trailer-features-female-morgan/
Remember the Prey trailer that surfaced at QuakeCon earlier this year—you know, the one that sort of echoed Alien: Isolation and System Shock 2, and also demonstrated the value of turning into a coffee cup? Well, Bethesda has re-released it, this time with the female variation of protagonist Morgan Yu in charge.

HIVESWAP IS COMING IN JANUARY, SO HERE'S A TRAILER
http://www.pcgamer.com/hiveswap-is-coming-in-january-so-heres-a-trailer/
It's been a long and winding journey for Hiveswap, the point-and-click adventure game "based on and loosely related to Homestuck canon." It started as a Kickstarter for the Homestuck Adventure Game in 2012, changed developers, direction, and title in 2014, and in early 2015 was given a release window for the first of its planned four episodes of the spring of that year.

ASHES OF THE SINGULARITY EXPANSION ADDS TWO NEW CAMPAIGNS AND A STRATEGIC ZOOM OPTION
http://www.pcgamer.com/ashes-of-the-singularity-escalation-dlc-adds-two-new-campaigns-and-a-strategic-zoom-option/
Stardock's RTS Ashes of the Singularity is an impressive technical accomplishment, but it fell a bit short as a single-player experience because of "drab" maps and a brief, "forgettable" campaign. That's something the studio aims to address with the game's first standalone expansion, entitled Escalation, that's set to come out in November.

THE RHYTHM-ACTION GAME THUMPER GOES LIVE TODAY, THREE DAYS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

The "rhythm violence game" Thumper was scheduled for release on October 13, which is this coming Thursday. Surprise! It's actually coming out today. Developer Drool said the early release is a way to "to surprise and reward gamers who have been waiting years for the game to come out."

ALL BATTLEFIELD 1 RENTAL SERVERS WILL BE OPERATED BY EA
http://www.pcgamer.com/all-battlefield-1-rental-servers-will-be-operated-by-ea/
Battlefield 1 will support private and public server rental, but unlike in the past, EA will not rely on third-party companies to provide them. The publisher made the announcement earlier this week on the Battlefield website, where it specified that the rent-a-server program will start rolling out following the game's launch later this month.

BATTLEFIELD 1'S SPECTATOR MODE TO COME WITH NEW VIDEO EDITING TOOLS
http://www.pcgamer.com/battlefield-1s-spectator-mode-comes-with-new-video-editing-tools/
You won't just spectate in Battlefield 1's Spectator mode; you'll basically chronicle the skirmish as a sort of war correspondent, compositing scenes, changing the depth-of-field or field-of-view, enabling a free camera, or adding visual filters to make everything look all arty and noir. That's thanks to a set of new tools that will be bolted onto the game "soon after launch", and detailed on the Battleblog here.

AI WAR 2 ANNOUNCED, WILL BE 3D AND SUPPORT MODS
http://www.pcgamer.com/ai-war-2-announced-will-be-3d-and-support-mods/
Arcen Games has announced a sequel to its enormo-space RTS AI War, which we called "one of this year's finest strategy games" back in 2009. AI War II will feature 3D models, modding support, the option to play as the aliens, and a load of other tweaks and additions to the already massive original—here's an online design document collecting everything that Arcen aims to put in the game.

SUNLESS SEA GETS NEW QUESTS TO CELEBRATE ZUBMARINER LAUNCH
http://www.pcgamer.com/sunless-sea-gets-new-quests-to-celebrate-zubmariner-launch/
Sunless Sea's Zubmariner expansion releases at 6pm BST / 10am PDT today, but if you need something to keep your captain occupied until the various store pages go live, developer Failbetter has added some new quests to the base game. As explained here, you don't need to have purchased the expansion in order to access the new content, but it will foreshadow some of the events that lie in wait in Zubmariner's spooky Unterzee.

My Twin Brother Made Me Crossdress As Him And Now I Have To Deal With A Geeky Stalker And A Domme Beauty Who Want Me In A Bind!! or, Ladykiller in a Bind is the latest game from Digital: A Love Story and Analogue: A Hate Story creator Christine Love, and thank god for the copy-and-paste feature. Thank god. Phil covered the game's announcement back in January 2014, and I'd forgotten all about it until I learned that it's out...today.

UNDERRAIL EXPANSION EXPEDITION ANNOUNCED
http://www.pcgamer.com/underrail-expansion-expedition-announced/
I've heard great things about subterranean CRPG Underrail since it released late last year, and I'm looking forward to playing it when I finally finish Divinity: Original Sin sometime in 2055. If you've been enjoying it, however, you'll be pleased to hear that an expansion is on the way. Underrail: Expedition will allow you to explore a "massive" underground ocean called the Black Sea, which naturally is home to pirates, crumbling ruins and dangerous beasties. Still, it should make a change from crawling around endless metro tunnels.
