Is there even any particular software security games? I always thought games themselves had no notable amount of security and it was instead the platform had the security measures in place. But this is skipping the whole platform, so its security is irrelevant. I don't really know how it is, but that's how I thought it was (aside from the infamous Xbox One plans, of course).

I meant more the system software and firmware side.

Not sure if the Switch 2 game cartridges themselves are encrypted like most 7th gen and beyond discs are, or if that would be an issue (IIRC it was an issue for the PS3 since that one did outright block sectors of the ISO without the proper keys), but they do feature unique IDs like Xbox One/Series discs at least.

While there are upsides to decomps, I fear emulation scene will suffer from it in long term, since there will be less incentive to build proper emulators that can run whole library (in theory) of said console vs selected decompiled game by game approach.

That said, maybe decomps actually help emulation scene by more quickly revealing underlying hardware?

I think one will help the other. The more decompiled games there are, the easier it will be for those building emulators to find patterns, which instructions do what and which ones need more work, etc.

Well, I am hoping that emulators will not be sidelined and actually get boost from works on decomps - I am especially eager to see decomps of PC games to ARM64, but in the long run I prefer much more emulators since they provide access to virtually whole console library.

(to put it into perspective, Dolphin is currently at 67.2% Perfect, 30.7% Playable all the way through, with only remaining 2.1% games not playable)

Crysis Wars Revival Gets a Major Update With Over 100 Fixes and Improvements
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/crysis-wars-revival-gets-a-major-update-with-over-100-fixes-and-improvements/
Crysis Wars was a great multiplayer mode for the first Crysis game Crysis Warhead. I don’t know about you, but I loved it. It never got as big as Halo or Call of Duty, but I had a lot of fun with it. So, I was sad when Crysis Remastered came out without it. Thankfully, a group of fans has kept Crysis Wars alive.
A few days ago, its modding team released a new major update for it. This update brought over 100 fixes and changes to it. It also added a new map, better game options, and a fun bonus game.
Going into more detail, Update v2.0.1125 fixes many bugs in the game and its servers. It also adds support for newer devices and works better on handheld PCs. The update fixes parts of the user menu and makes changes to weapons and game physics.
You can now change some game options while a match is in play. These include Wall Jump, Cloak Mode, and Third-Person View. Mods and admins can also use new chat commands to change these options during a match.
The update also makes some anti-cheat tools less strict. This should help stop them from flagging fair players by mistake.
The new Conquest 3 map is a remake of CTF_Mirror. It has new land shapes, more detail, better map edges, stormy weather, and new sounds.
Each team also gets its own spawn area. These areas have sliding gates that open on their own. A shield stops foes from entering or shooting through the open gates.
The team has also released a small v2.0.1125.1 update that adds two key fixes. First, it fixes vehicle turrets that could fail to turn at long range. Second, it adds a test fix for a common crash called the Particle Thread crash.
This small patch is still in a beta phase. The team tested it for hours, but more player feedback is needed. You can get this update only through the in-game update system. If needed, you can still get v2.0.1125 from the website.
The team has also brought back Super Turbo Turkey Puncher. You can play this mini-game on an arcade machine in Crysis Wars.
All in all, this update keeps Crysis Wars alive with fixes, new content, and better play. More features are still in the works and will come in future updates.
You can go ahead and download its latest update from this link (cryserv.de). Below, you can also find two videos. The first one showcases the new Conquest 3 map. The second shows how you can install the Crysis Wars Revival Project.

Tekken 6 Gets Unofficial PC Port with Online Multiplayer & Rollback Netcode
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/tekken-6-gets-unofficial-pc-port-with-online-multiplayer-rollback-netcode/
Here is something really cool for our Tekken and fighting fans. An unofficial PC port of Tekken 6 has just been released, featuring online multiplayer with rollback netcode. This unofficial port will let you play this Tekken game on PC. So, if you are not a fan of all the gameplay changes Bandai Namco made to Tekken 8, you should check it out.
This unofficial PC port is based on the Xbox 360 version. It allows you to choose between three picture quality modes: Standard, High, and Ultra. High aims to look sharp on Full HD and 1440p screens. Ultra targets 4K screens.
You can also lower the 3D resolution and shadows to improve performance on less powerful GPUs. The PC port supports full screen, borderless, or windowed mode. Moreover, you can turn motion blur off and set your own vibration choice for the game modes that support it.
As said, the biggest feature of this PC port is Online play. You can fight other players online with rollback netcode. This helps keep matches smooth when the two players have some network lag. You can play ranked matches or join player matches in online lobbies.
     ***Eight more paragraphs***
All in all, this is the definitive way to play Tekken 6 in 2026. Those interested can go ahead and download the PC port from here (Github). As always, it does not contain any in-game assets. To play it, you’ll have to provide your own ISO.

Modder Has Used AI to Boost Oblivion Remastered Performance by 40% and Reduce Stutters
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/modder-has-used-ai-to-boost-oblivion-remastered-performance-by-40-and-reduce-stutters/
Bethesda and Virtuos seem to have left Oblivion Remastered behind. The game got two patches in July 2025, but nothing has come out since. It still has major stutters and poor performance. This is what prompted a modder to use AI tools to boost performance and reduce stutters.
So, how did LTSharpe make this mod? First, he built a custom test tool. This let Claude find and fix slow spots in the game on its own. The work led to about 40 fixes. City frame rates rose from 30 FPS to a steady 60 FPS. Open-world frame rates also rose by 30–40%. The mod also cut stutters that happen as you move through the world.
The mod also adds full support for the latest AMD FSR Frame Gen. This can further help reduce stutters. On top of that, the mod fixes bugs in both the base game and the remaster.
The PC system the modder used for the above results were an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, an aMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, 32GB or RAM, and the latest version of Windows 11.
To showcase his impressive results, LTSharpe shared the following video. In this video, we get to see how the mod can greatly improve performance.
Do note that your gains will depend on your PC. You will see the biggest boost when your CPU slows the game down. This often happens in towns, in crowds, and while you travel. It can also help at high frame rates and with frame gen, which needs a high base frame rate.
If your GPU is the bottleneck, you may see little or no gain. For example, this can happen at native 4K or when using a high-end CPU. Still, fixes for stutter, doors, and menus can help.
Moreover, crowds may still cause slowdowns. The game’s main thread still does the same work. Busy areas can push it to its limit, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Some stutter may also remain. The game can still hitch when you enter a new part of the world. This is mostly due to the old game engine. At normal travel speeds, you will rarely notice it.
All in all, this is a must-have mod for everyone, especially for those using a mid-tier CPU. This can greatly improve your gaming experience. You can download it from here )Githhub).

This Mod Adds Full Real-Time Path Tracing to Fallout New Vegas
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/this-mod-adds-full-real-time-path-tracing-to-fallout-new-vegas/
Modder ‘Kim2091’ has released a new mod that adds full real-time Path Tracing to Fallout: New Vegas. The mod adds a whole new renderer, including custom volumetric clouds, PBR, and a lot more. So, if you want to experience Fallout: New Vegas with Path Tracing, you should definitely give it a go.
With New Vegas RTX, every light in the game becomes a real light source. This includes lights behind you and lights that move. You can see light from gunfire, NPC torches, and the Pip-Boy light in both first and third person. Unlike ReShade RTGI mods, this mod does not just use lights on your screen.
The sky will also have a real sense of depth now. It has air, clouds, stars, and a moon. Moreover, it follows the game’s clock and weather. You can see clear skies, haze, clouds, fog, dust storms, rain, and storms. The sky blends as the weather changes. It also works with weather added by other mods.
The world will keep moving behind the Pip-Boy and other menus. This includes barter, storage, and repair screens. The game no longer freezes the view into a still, sepia image. Additionally, the Pip-Boy stays easy to read, even in bright sunlight. It also has a CRT glass effect for a more realistic look.
Water will now use path tracing for a more realistic look. This means that you can now see ripples and waves. When you dive, sunlight bends and shines under the water. The view also gets darker and murkier the deeper you go.
The sky and world now have more true levels of light and dark. Nights are much darker, so you need a light to see and stay safe in the wasteland.
It’s also worth noting that the mod keeps the whole world in the ray-traced scene, even things behind you. This helps stop shadows and reflections from popping in as you turn. The scene also stays loaded when you open menus, so the game does not hitch when you return to play.
Texture packs that include height maps can now show real depth on walls, ground, and other surfaces. The mod also uses gloss data stored in the alpha channel of normal maps.
Finally, the mod supports NVIDIA DLSS, including Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and Frame Generation. It also supports AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, and NVIDIA Reflex. For AMD and Intel graphics cards, the modder recommends XeSS over FSR for a more stable result.
All in all, this is one of the coolest mods for FNV. So, don’t sleep on it. You can download it from this link (Nexus Mods). At the end of the article, you can also find its launch trailer.
>> There’s a slightly over one minute trailer in the article.

Nintendo Wii-Exclusive Super Paper Mario Gets Unofficial PC Port
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nintendo-wii-exclusive-super-paper-mario-gets-unofficial-pc-port/
Mario fans, here is something for you today. An unofficial PC port of the Nintendo Wii exclusive game, Super Paper Mario, has just been released. So, if you are big Mario fans, you should definitely check it out.
For those who did not know, Super Paper Mario is a platform game with action role-playing elements that came out on Nintendo Wii in 2007. The game follows Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi as they attempt to collect Pure Hearts and stop Count Bleck and his minions from destroying the universe.
The unofficial PC port comes with a launcher that installs the game from your own disc image. It supports up to 4K resolutions, and it has borderless 1080p as the default option.
There is also support for widescreen and ultrawide monitors. The game can also fill the entire screen without stretching the graphics. Not only that, but it has built-in higher-quality music and HD textures. We also get support for 120 FPS via frame interpolation.
What’s also cool is that we get support for the mouse and keyboard. PC gamers can use the mouse for the Wii Remote pointer. There is also support for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo gamepads. And yes, you can remap every key you want.
You can go ahead and download this unofficial PC port from this link (Github). As always, it does not contain any in-game assets. To play it, you’ll have to provide your own disc image.

Tuesday gaming news, part two:

Lucasfilm wants to do more Star Wars games like Zero Company and Galactic Racer: 'We’ve tried to be more flexible about who we’re willing to take pitches from'
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/lucasfilm-wants-to-do-more-star-wars-games-like-zero-company-and-galactic-racer-weve-tried-to-be-more-flexible-about-who-were-willing-to-take-pitches-from/
We've had two Star Wars games in 2026, both of them quite good and neither of them quite what you might expect from the Star Wars mould: Zero Company, an XCOM-style tactics game, and Galactic Racer, an arcade racing game but Star Wars. And the success of those games means we may see more like them—which is to say, more offbeat Star Wars games from smaller-scale studios—in the future.

Star Wars Zero Company adds new difficulty options that can bring it closer to XCOM
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/star-wars-zero-company-adds-new-difficulty-options-that-can-bring-it-closer-to-xcom/
Star Wars Zero Company's 1.2 patch introduces a new granular difficulty system in addition to the usual bugfixes and tweaks. These new options exist alongside the original difficulty levels (easy, normal, hard, ironman beskarboy etc.), and home in on more creative/tactical tweaks, rather than just beefing up enemies.

Moonlighter studio won't host a public playtest of its next game due to rampant AI-led cloning: 'We know we're not the only developers feeling this way'

The studio behind the Moonlighter series has announced it will no longer host a public playtest for its forthcoming roguelike due to fears it will be "reverse-engineered, cloned and published". The move comes as a surge in rapidly vibe coded clones floods Steam, Roblox and mobile app stores in the aftermath of Claude Opus 5.5.

Subnautica 2 is heading for 'Early access 2.0,' which brings 'one of our scariest regions we've ever done'

In the first of a new vlog series, creative director Anthony Gallegos said that the game is preparing to move into "early access 2.0," which Unknown Worlds is calling its "most substantial update" since the game hit last May.

Something else it means: CDPR's devs have been preparing a new patch for Cyberpunk 2077 (the videogame). Announced today, the details of Cyberpunk's 2.5 patch will drop tomorrow, the 21st of October, before the update itself releases on the 22nd.

Team Next Fest is facing huge backlash over the rise of AI-slop and low-effort games.

The October event has 8,011 demos, nearly twice as many as June., developers say the flood of low-quality “AI slop” is making it harder for real indie games worth to play Back in June, roughly 1 in 5 games at Steam Next Fest disclosed using AI.

Now, just a few months later, that number has jumped to around 1 in 3. Some developers have even avoided public demos because they fear their games could be copied.
