Not unexpected at this point. It’s not like anyone, even whales could afford to spend $7000 on a 5090. Crazy to think that a few years ago, $2000 for a 5090 sounded ludicrous. Now people are flying to different countries anytime Nvidia has one of those “msrp” events cause buying a plane ticket + $2000 is cheaper than the going rate of a 5090 lol.

I don’t know if there will be another 90 class in the future. But I am glad I was able to snag a 4090 when the times were good.

That's the sh*ty part: it doesn't matter.

Adobe makes buckets of money from their software and they can and maybe will use some of that amount to sue that guy not because what he's doing is illefal, but with the intention of stopping him from continuing his work by making him too worried about that can happen and because he'll have to spend lots of money in legal fees from his own lawyers that he'll have to give up and move on.

That's the secret power of these big corporations, that they can win by making others go bankrupt while trying to defend themselves from baseless lawsuits.

I'll have to push back on that a bit. There are dozens of paid or free source image editors out there, many of them deeply integrating features from Adobe's portfolio, such as being compatible and/or using their filters and file formats.

It's just like there are multiple free alternatives for all of Microsoft's products, some of which are very blatant Excel or Word clones, despite 365 being a 10x larger revenue market than all of Adobe put together.

What is actually changing is that the human capital required to program complex features is dropping exponentially, so a clone or alternative that would always lag in features is going to reach, or at least approach, parity much sooner.

I know there are alternatives to Adobe or to other software. I use LibreOffice at home. The main difference here with some of these vibe coded alternatives (there's more than one), is that it's a complete ripoff. It not only tries to look similar and have the same functions, but it copies everything to the smallest detail. And that's where Adobe may decide to act.

Hopefully they won't, that's why I've always used the conditional, but if they feel threatened, who knows what they'll do.

Fireside feeling is free on steam, just add another one to add to the library...

Nice, thanks for sharing.

Pony Island is also free to get until Monday, but despite the name it's a Horror game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/405640/Pony_Island/

It not just sounded ludicrous, it was. What happened since then has just been insane and will have further consequences in the future. If Nvidia saw how people were willing to pay $1,000 for a 3080 and twice that for a 3090 and raised the prices for the 4000 series, imagine what a possible 6090 will cost like...

Because yes, I think Nvidia will still launch a xx90 class because having the fastest gaming card still matters to Nvidia. Or mattered. Who knows what Jensen cares about right now.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Nvidia will just up the price of the 5080, especially if the 24gb version replaces it.

That's a given, as 3GB chips are more expensive than 2GB ones, plus an "extra" on top.

If Nvidia ends up launching such card, it will be interesting to see how it does in sales, as people may not be fooled by it and wait for the 6000 cards, and also in benchmarks, as the 16GB were a clear limiting factor at 4K when the 4090 pulled away from it.

Which is no small wonder with their pricing.

W got an IT support guy specifically for Adobe-related issues. As such, he needed a full license for all their products. The result: His monthly salary (making close to 50k a year) is less than the cost of his Adobe licenses the company has to pay just for him each month - and it’s not even close!

At the same time, every single employee has a full Microsoft 365 account, and if they want any Adobe license, they have to request them separately, one license at a time, even if they’d need the entire Adobe creative suite…

I”d say Nvidia will come again with a 90 class GPU… it will just get supplanted by a new and reborn Titan.

And while the new 90 class GPU will barely be faster than a 5090, it will be available at the 5090’s MSRP so ~$2500, while the more professional-graded Titan will be more like $5000.

I haven't played Final Fantasy XVI yet, but based on XV and what I've seen of XVI, XIII is easily more pleasant to look at. In fact, it's still among the best-looking games in the series, and just in general a joy to look at. It has such masterful use of colours. It's a pity the endgame of XIII looks kind of disapponting, but even that's not too bad. I hope XVII gets back to something more colourful etc.
