I know there are alternatives to Adobe or to other software. I use LibreOffice at home. The main difference here with some of these vibe coded alternatives (there's more than one), is that it's a complete ripoff. It not only tries to look similar and have the same functions, but it copies everything to the smallest detail. And that's where Adobe may decide to act.

Hopefully they won't, that's why I've always used the conditional, but if they feel threatened, who knows what they'll do.

I'll admit I haven't looked at what this particular software suite looks like. Obviously, e.g. ripping off everything down to the pixel size of the interface prompts and everything gets in the grounds where this would start to look a bit legally sketchy, but still, this is just the GitHub of a few dudes with Claude.

There will be others developing attractive alternatives, and the advantage of large software companies at speedily patching stuff and adding new features and compatibility layers has been more or less cancelled. Now you only need a few people with enough expertise, and before long, not even that.

Diablo 1 Fan Remake Released, Featuring HD Textures, Ray Tracing, and Online Co-Op
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/diablo-1-fan-remake-released-featuring-hd-textures-ray-tracing-and-online-co-op/
Diablo fans, here is something special for you today. Troygentic has released a special version of DevilutionX, the open-source port of Diablo, called DamnationX.
DamnationX is basically a fan remake of Diablo 1 with some cool modern-day graphics features. It brings HD textures, ray-traced lighting, and online co-op.
What’s also cool here is that DamnationX is playable in your browser or on desktop. I don’t really know why anyone would want to play it in their browser. But hey, it’s a nice feature to have.
I don’t know if it’s the lighting, but with the new HD textures, the game seems to lose some of its grittiness. So, I hope the team behind it will overhaul the new textures. They look great on most characters. But the environments need a bit more work.
Do note that this is a very early version of the remake. As such, you may encounter some bugs and glitches. Things will get better over time, so make sure to keep that in mind.
All in all, this is an amazing fan remake of the first Diablo game. And it’s free, meaning that everyone can download and try it. So, even if you don’t like it, you can skip it, as it’s not an official remake. On the other hand, if you always wanted to play Diablo with ray-traced lighting, you can give this remake a go.
Personally, I love when modders add Ray Tracing, and especially Path Tracing, to old/classic games. I really, really enjoyed Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, Doom 2, Quake, GTA 4, and Serious Sam with their Path Tracing mods.
You can go ahead and download this fan remake of Diablo 1 from here (Github). Below, you can also find a trailer for it. This trailer highlights most of its key features.

Resident Evil 2 Remake & BioShock Just Got Co-Op Mods
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/resident-evil-2-remake-bioshock-just-got-co-op-mods/
Here is something for our Resident Evil 2 and BioShock fans. Two co-op mods have been released for these games, allowing you to play their campaign modes with your friends. So, let’s take a closer look at them.
Let’s start with the co-op mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake. This is a local splitscreen co-op mod. It does not support online co-op. As such, one player can use a keyboard and mouse, while the other uses a gamepad. You can also use two controllers.
(***eight paragraphs detailing this mod***)
On the other hand, the co-op mod for BioShock supports both local and online play. With this mod, you can play the full story with a friend. You will explore Rapture, fight enemies, hack machines, and take down Big Daddies together.
(***five paragraphs detailing this mod***)
From what I know, both of these mods are in a somewhat early stage. So, you may encounter some bugs and glitches. Still, they are a cool way to re-experience these two games.
Those interested can go ahead and download them from here (Nexus Mods) and here (Nexus Mods).

Starfield Is Getting a Mod That Lets You Seamlessly Land on Any Planet
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/starfield-is-getting-a-mod-that-lets-you-seamlessly-land-on-any-planet/
One of the biggest complaints about Starfield was that you could not fly to planets in real time. You also could not land on them seamlessly. A mod has already fixed the first issue. Now, a new mod is in the works to fix the second. This mod will let you land on any planet in the game in a seamless way.
Modder ‘Frederik Wessberg Is A Nerd’ has been working on this mod for half a year and shared a video to showcase it. As you will see, you will be able to get really close to a planet. Then, clouds will start covering the entire screen. That’s when the game will be loading the planet’s surface.
(*** too much to share***)
All in all, this will be a must-have mod for Starfield. Sadly, though, is no ETA for when it will come out. Naturally, though, I’ll be sure to keep you posted.

PS5 Emulator KyTyPS5 Runs SAROS, Hits Up to 60FPS in Demon’s Souls Remake and 40FPS in Marvel’s Wolverine
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/ps5-emulator-kytyps5-runs-saros-hits-up-to-60fps-in-demons-souls-remake-and-40fps-in-marvels-wolverine/
It has been a while since we last covered KyTyPS5, the best emulator for PlayStation 5. Since then, the emulator has seen many updates. Now, a new video shows three PS5 games running on its latest version. These games are SAROS, Demon’s Souls Remake, and Marvel’s Wolverine.
Let’s start with SAROS. It is an action game from the team behind Returnal. Returnal came to PC, but SAROS will most likely stay a PS5 exclusive. Right now, KyTyPS5 can run SAROS and get into the game. The frame rate is not great yet. Still, this is a big step for the emulator. Getting the game to run at all is quite impressive.
Then, we have Marvel’s Wolverine. During some cut-scenes, the game can run at 40FPS on a high-end PC system. During gameplay, there are still major slowdowns. The game is nowhere close to being playable. From what I’ve seen, it currently runs at 10-15FPS. There are also major stuttering issues, and the game appears to be unstable. So, I don’t believe KyTyPS5 will be able to run it at 30FPS in 2026.
Lastly, we have Demon’s Souls Remake. Demon’s Souls Remake can now run at 40-50FPS on a high-end PC system. In some particular areas, the emulator can run the game at 60FPS. This is most likely the game that will soon be fully playable at 60FPS. My guess is that by Christmas we will be able to run it at 60FPS.
Before closing, I should note that the second-best PS5 emulator, SharpEmu, can now launch Ghost of Yotei and get into the game. Performance is still really low, though. We’re talking about 1-2FPS. Still, the fact that SharpEmu can launch Ghost of Yotei is already impressive.

First Look at the PC Native Port of inFAMOUS Second Son
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/first-look-at-the-pc-native-port-of-infamous-second-son/
YouTube’s ‘Keep Tryin’ is currently working on an unofficial PC port of the PS4 game, inFAMOUS Second Son. And a couple of days ago, he released a video showcasing 20 minutes of gameplay from it. So, if you’ve always wanted to play this PS4 game on PC, you should check it out.
The project uses the game’s original compiled code, combining reverse engineering, custom hooks, and PC-specific adaptations.
Instead of rebuilding the game from scratch, he is working with the original game code, adapting certain PS4-specific functions to run more efficiently on PC.
This approach combines PS4 emulation with targeted code modifications to reduce overhead, improve performance, and gradually move toward more direct PC execution.
In the video, we get to see the game running at 60FPS without any major visual bugs or issues. From what I know, shadPS4 does not run the game as well as what we see here. Moreover, there are lots of graphical bugs with it. So, right now, this PC port offers better visuals and performance than shadPS4.
There is currently no ETA for when this unofficial PC port will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
>> The video is in the article, obviously.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent Xbox Version Gets an Unofficial Native PC Port
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/splinter-cell-double-agent-xbox-version-gets-an-unofficial-native-pc-port/
Splinter Cell fans, here is something truly special for you today. An unofficial PC port of the Xbox version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent has just been released.
For those who did not know, the PC/Xbox 360 version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent is quite different from the original Xbox version. Both of them share the same basic story, but many parts of the game have changed.
(***Six paragraphs describing all the differences***)
The PC port supports full screen, borderless, or windowed mode. You can also use your screen’s full size and change the game’s field of view. The port lets you set the frame rate or remove the limit. You can also turn V-Sync on or off and show an FPS counter.
Moreover, this PC port adds many graphics options. You can use MSAA and SMAA to smooth rough edges. You can also set texture filtering, boost shadow quality, and make shadows reach much farther. The port also adds soft contact shadows with ambient occlusion.
You can pick between two shader modes. One keeps the look of the original Xbox game. The other adds Shader Model 3 features, such as HDR and tone mapping. This gives you more control over how the game looks.
What’s also crucial to note is that the PC port allows you to play with a mouse and keyboard. The port supports raw mouse input, and lets you change mouse speed, and lets you remap keys. You can also use a controller and change its button layout.
In case you’re wondering, yet. You can play co-op with a friend over the internet or a local network. You can also play in split-screen mode. Not only that, but the Versus mode also works online.
The port also lets you raise the co-op update rate. You can lower the input delay, too. Both players must use the same settings for these options.
All in all, this is a must-have for all PC Splinter Cell fans. Right now, the official remake seems to be in development hell. So, the only “new” Splinter Cell game you can play, especially if you’ve always been a PC gamer, is this one.
You can go ahead and download it from here (Github). As with all PC recompilations, it does not feature any in-game assets. So, to play it, you’ll have to provide your own ISO.
>> These mods/ports articles are getting ridiculously long. Anyway, the article has a shorter than two minutes video.

God of War 3 Remastered Unofficial PC Port Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/god-of-war-3-remastered-unofficial-pc-port-released/
One of the best games on the PS3, which was then remastered for PS4, is God of War 3. And now, PC gamers can finally enjoy this game on PC. Yup, you read that right. An unofficial PC port of God of War 3 Remastered has just been released.
This PC port is based on Supermedo’s Windows port, which builds on deadinside28’s Bloodborne PC project. It also uses fixes for God of War III from cuesta4’s shadPS4 fork.
The PC port lets you play the entire game. In other words, you can play from the opening scenes to the final fight. The menus, video scenes, music, voices, and sound effects all work.
Now, here is one of the best things about the PC port. We get full keyboard and mouse support from the get-go. As with a lot of recent PC ports, we have KB&M support at launch. You can also rebind all keys. Plus, you can use a DualSense, Xbox pad, or any other gamepad you want.
But what about performance? On an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X with 32GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, the PC port runs at 144 FPS on average at 1080p. In some cases, it can drop to 55 FPS, but it can also go up to 240 FPS. At 4K with FSR, this same PC setup can push an average of at 108 FPS.
(***another eight paragraphs***)
Those interested can go ahead and download the PC port from here (Github). To run it, you’ll need a copy of God of War III Remastered CUSA01623 with the 01.02 update.

Bulkhead wants to boost one team's win rate, and it's willing to bribe its players (with in-game cash) to do it. Despite all three teams starting on equal grounds, many Wardogs players have been avoiding Blue from the start, going so far as to idle on the selection screen for minutes waiting for a slot to open on Green or Red.

'Overcooked broke you apart and Stage Fright is there to put you back together'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/overcooked-broke-you-apart-and-stage-fright-is-there-to-put-you-back-together/
I introduced Overcooked to two of my friends one day back in 2016. One day being the key phrase here. The Overcooked games are on our list of the best co-op games, but the series has a reputation for ruining relationships—in China it's apparently known as "The Divorce Kitchen". I don't recall actually fighting with my friends, but the tension was thick enough that we quickly went back to playing Jackbox instead.
That makes Stage Fright, which is being published by No Man's Sky developer Hello Games, kind of an interesting pivot for Ghost Town Games. It's the next co-op adventure from the makers of Overcooked, but it's aimed at building relationships with your play partner instead of leaving you irked at them.

Mafia 3, which PC Gamer scored 54% but which I say is great, got a nice little 10th-anniversary update
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/mafia-3-which-pc-gamer-scored-54-percent-but-which-i-say-is-great-got-a-nice-little-10th-anniversary-update/
Here's a truth no one but I am willing to admit: Mafia 3 was good, actually. Please disregard PC Gamer's 54% Mafia 3 review. I don't know what happened there. Possibly Andy Kelly put the wrong game disc in by mistake. I understand they were still using game discs in 2016, alongside gramophones, the telegram, wax cylinders and what have you.
It's now 10 years old, which is deeply troubling, but earlier this week it got a new patch. "We're honouring a decade of Lincoln's legacy with a new Steam update bringing quality-of-life enhancements to Mafia 3: Definitive Edition, live now," says Hangar 13.

'If you're skilful enough, you can chop the head off a monster, kick it midair, and then kill another monster with it': Consider me sold on this indie first-person ARPG

Certain ideas that crop up every so often in games will always grab my attention. One of them is letting players defeat enemies with bits of other enemies. As such, my interest in Heathen—an upcoming indie dungeon crawler—went from 'mildly curious' to 'smashing the wishlist button' when its most recent trailer revealed you can beat your foes by volleying other enemy heads at them.

Expect plenty more Silent Hill over the next few years, as Konami has plans for 'second and third waves' of new games in its revived horror series
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/horror/expect-plenty-more-silent-hill-over-the-next-few-years-as-konami-has-plans-for-second-and-third-waves-of-new-games-in-its-revived-horror-series/
Silent Hill's resurrection is one of the happier stories to emerge from the games industry in recent years. After spending roughly a decade locked in a Konami cupboard, Silent Hill has received three new entries published by Konami in as many years, all of which arrived to positive reviews and, seemingly, healthy sales. But if Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall still haven't satisfied your craving for allegorical horror in foggy towns, fret not, because Konami has plenty more plans for the series' ongoing revival.

Be warned: Nivalis Nights may not be the cozy game you expect: 'If you want a cozy existence in this city, you're going to have to earn it'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/life-sim/be-warned-nivalis-nights-may-not-be-the-cozy-game-you-expect-if-you-want-a-cozy-existence-in-this-city-youre-going-to-have-to-earn-it/
The popular user-added tags for Nivalis Nights on Steam are: Cyberpunk, simulation, life sim, management, and relaxing. It is definitely a cyberpunk shop/life sim, but relaxing? This one was on the wishlists of a lot of cozy gaming fans, including me. After playing it though, I'm not sure it's the kind of cozy most people would expect. Here's what lead writer Thomas Welsh had to say.

Triple-A Minesweeper is a gleeful send-up of blockbuster gaming's worst habits, from yellow paint to characters who talk too much
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/puzzle/triple-a-minesweeper-is-a-gleeful-send-up-of-blockbuster-gamings-worst-habits-from-yellow-paint-to-characters-who-talk-too-much/
In recent years, triple-A games have often been criticised for overly excessive handholding, overcompensating for a dread fear that the player might become stuck. This has manifested in numerous ways like Atreus' heavy-handed puzzle hints in God of War: Ragnarok, yellow paint splashed on every other ledge of Stellar Blade, and most recently, Marvel's Wolverine essentially playing itself for entire portions of the game.
I'm not here to weigh in on that debate. Instead, I'm simply going to point you to Triple-A Minesweeper, a delightful spoof game created by developer Mike Lacher, which expertly skewers some of blockbuster gaming's most egregious habits.
>> It’s the most egregious experience I’d had in a very long time. Thank God it’s very short.

Squadron 42 has a Steam page
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/squadron-42-has-a-steam-page/
In August, game director Chris Roberts said that Star Citizen's singleplayer component, Squadron 42, was being delayed out of 2026 to avoid clashing with Grand Theft Auto 6. There was a certain amount of skepticism about the reason for the delay, thanks in part to a recent Star Citizen livestream being declared a disaster, but also because, well. These games have had so many release dates the changes have their own wiki page.
There's something concrete about having Squadron 42 getting a Steam page though, with system requirements and everything. Those system requirements are charmingly old-fashioned, with no mention of ray tracing-capable GPUs or DirectX 12. Although the install size of 150GB is still pretty hefty. (Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is apparently going to be 200GB, oof.)

It looks like Wing Commander 3 is getting a remaster, after EA producer discovers the original FMV source tapes in the company's archives
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/it-looks-like-wing-commander-3-is-getting-a-remaster-after-ea-producer-discovers-the-original-fmv-source-tapes-in-the-companys-archives/
Typical, isn't it? You wait ages for new information on a Chris Roberts-directed space combat sim, and then two lots come along at once. Less than 24 hours after Cloud Imperium Games surprise-released a glossy trailer for Star Citizen's single-player spinoff Squadron 42, it now appears that Roberts' 1994 classic Wing Commander 3 is getting a remaster courtesy of EA.
The project is headed up by EA producer Jim Vessella, who revealed the remaster during a presentation at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. The remaster will include cutscenes based on Wing Commander 3's original FMV recordings, after Vessella discovered 600 source tapes while digitising EA's video archive.

The developer of an AI-powered driving instruction simulator is spending $1,000 per month just to keep its demo running
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/the-developer-of-an-ai-powered-driving-instruction-simulator-is-spending-usd1-000-per-month-just-to-keep-its-demo-running/
One of the many ways AI will (supposedly) revolutionise the games industry is facilitating highly reactive NPCs via LLM-powered chatbots. Yet so far, only a handful of games like Where Winds Meet have attempted to implement the tech, and the results have been less than spectacular. But there might also be another reason why relatively few games feature LLM-powered NPCs, which is that powering such chatbots can be costly, as recently demonstrated by the developers of an upcoming driving instructor simulator
As reported by FRVR (via Kotaku) Teach My Little Sister How To Drive is a comic simulation game in which you coach your virtual sibling on driving technique from the comfort of the passenger seat. The twist is that behind your sister's dinner-plate eyes is an LLM chatbot (currently powered by an OpenAI model, though the developers intend to use Gemini for the final release) In the role of instructor, players can both converse with the chatbot and issue vocal instructions such as "turn left here", to which the bot will respond accordingly. At least, that's the theory.

This Control-inspired action game set in a 'planet-scale alien mind' has one of the most stunning art styles I've seen this year
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/this-control-inspired-action-game-set-in-a-planet-scale-alien-mind-has-one-of-the-most-stunning-art-styles-ive-seen-this-year/
In the age of near photorealism, it takes a lot for a game's visuals to impress me. As cramming yet more pixels into a videogame character's face provides diminishing returns, standing out from the crowd is increasingly about how creative developers get in applying that power. All that said, I was genuinely mesmerised by the debut footage of Etre, an upcoming action adventure game with a truly eye-popping art style.

Arc Raiders 2.0 is here, and you can finally turn those lights on your backpack off
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arc-raiders-2-0-is-here-and-you-can-finally-turn-those-lights-on-your-backpack-off/
I remember being a kid and wishing I had shoes that lit up. I know now that I was a fool. If I festooned myself with garish lights, how would I scavenge for supplies in a frozen wasteland without being spotted by strangers who may or may not kill me before I can use my grappling hook to get away? This isn't a real problem I have, nor is it a real problem Arc Raiders players will have anymore, since your backpack now has an emissive toggle.
That's one of many little overhauls that arrived in Embark Studios' popular extraction shooter Thursday, and you can read all about the rest in the 2.0 patch notes). If you've not been tuned into the extraction world as of late, you did indeed read that right: Arc Raiders has gotten a big shakeup with the Frozen Trails update, which comes bearing snowy mountains and grappling hooks.

PvP pinball is such a good idea I can't believe I haven't played it before
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/pvp-pinball-is-such-a-good-idea-i-cant-believe-i-havent-played-it-before/
One of the great things about videogame conventions is there are always people up for playing a local multiplayer game, just waiting to be handed controls and thrown into a new experience. Which is how, at PAX Australia over the weekend, I found myself playing a game called Bumper Bout. It immediately impressed me with its concept, and then as I played a few rounds of it, with how it executed that concept.
Bumper Bout is two-player competitive pinball. If you know Puyo Puyo Tetris it's like that, but if you don't then imagine you're playing pinball on one half of the screen while someone else beside you is doing the same, only with the ability to flick balls across the divide. While you're trying to land a skill shot or just frantically deal with the balls already pinging between your flippers, the neighbor casually lobs another problem over the fence and says, "Deal with this. Good luck!"

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/racing/the-algorithm-continues-to-properly-prioritise-mister-biddy-blas-star-wars-galactic-racer-has-created-the-perfect-creature/
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is out, and it's pretty solid, netting a firm 76 score in our Galactic Racer review. It's also, as should always be the case with Star Wars videogames, full of funny little guys. None so funny as Biddy Blas. Why is Biddy Blas so popular? Just listen to his voice actor having an absolute ball. I will have the words "SCRIB DOON" burned into my brain forevermore.

It's probably happening. Super heavy pricing for anyone who wants more than a rip off 5070 Ti.

If it ends up being confirmed, the cards will likely be announced at CES.

We'll see if those new 5080 come with other differences besides the amount of memory.

There will be others developing attractive alternatives, and the advantage of large software companies at speedily patching stuff and adding new features and compatibility layers has been more or less cancelled. Now you only need a few people with enough expertise, and before long, not even that.

Now, just to be clear, I don't know if this one is a carbon copy of Adobe's programs, but there are others that are.

LLT even did a video about one of those Photoshop alternatives last week, and it's not the one we've been discussing about that also tries to recreate all the other suits:

It's probably happening. Super heavy pricing for anyone who wants more than a rip off 5070 Ti.

My guess is $2000 starting price for 5-10% more performance than a 5080 and the 8GB extra VRAM.

In other words, a rip off 5080.

Ah, a great chance to find games previously unknown to me from my own country. I hope at least some of the ones I didn't know of yet are worthwhile.

I'd be hesitant to try any of these tools created with AI assistance, but at the same time, I welcome any and all pressure/competition against these quite expensive commercial products.
