ZOTAC rejects RTX 5070 Ti fan-issue RMA over “limited tools” and PCB scratches, then offers to dispose of the card

Well, here are two users that will not be buying Asus and Zotac GPUs from now on.

Also, this isn't the first time Asus has done something very similar. I guess their claims that they'd do better are as reliable as their RMA service.

AMD reportedly increases GPU pricing $10 per 8GB, Ryzen CPU price hike unconfirmed

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-reportedly-increases-gpu-pricing-10-per-8gb-ryzen-cpu-price-hike-unconfirmed

That's a bummer of course, but 10 to 20$/€ isn't that bad, really. I was expecting at least twice that to be honest, considering how much the RAM prices exploded.

It's not a lot on their end, but consumers will have to pay more than that, that's almost guaranteed.

Also, and this is a bit off-topic, this whole story of AMD raising the prices of the memory is starting to bother me, but for another motive.

For one reason or another, this is the third article about AMD and the raise of memory prices. We got the first one from the board channels where it was rumored to happen, then we got the one saying prices would go up by $20 to $40 and now we get this one.

Meanwhile, Nvidia stopping the supply of memory to its partners only got one.

Both are bad, but because of this difference in amount of articles, the AMD move gives the impression of being worse when it could be argued that Nvidia's move is worse as small brands will have a worse time sourcing those chips, putting their operations at risk.

Here’s your first look at Carmageddon: Rogue Shift

34BigThings srl has just shared the first trailer for its upcoming Carmageddon game, Carmageddon: Rogue Shift. Carmageddon: Rogue Shift will be a roguelite racing game with weapons.

I want this to be good, but what I am seeing is not filling me with confidence. Cars don't seem that different between each other, and I roll my eyes when I see the word roguelite. I tried the latest one, Max Damage, but I thought that it simply takes too long to finish a level.

Nowadays, some old franchises sell more because of the name than the quality of the games, and this one seems like it will fit that description.

As for the roguelite part, well, it's a popular genre right now and the more tags you can add to your game, the more potential buyers.

That is the price for AIB partners who will then charge more to the distributors who will then charge more to the retailers who will charge more to the consumer.

It's probably coming down to easier understanding. A price hike is something everyone understands, not bundling the memory for board partners on the other hand is a) not catchy and will not attract much readers, and b) the implications of this are much harder to understand for laymen than a simple price hike.

Basically what Nvidia did is a price hike that they could bury by the press who themselves often won't know the implications and thus won't really report on it.

Of course, but considering the price explosion in the RAM segment, this is still just a minor price hike and probably won't cover all the costs for AMD, especially if the prices keep exploding like they're doing right now.

There's a huge component of panic buying and seller opportunism in RAM stick prices, the actual price increases from manufacturers are nowhere close to some of the absurd asks we've been seeing.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond can already run on PC via Citron & Eden
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/metroid-prime-4-beyond-can-already-run-on-pc-via-citron-eden/
Nintendo has just released Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. And, to the surprise of no one, this latest Metroid game is playable on PC via the latest versions of the Nintendo Switch emulators.
Going into more details, both Eden and Citron are able to run Metroid 4 Prime: Beyond. From what I know, you can play it with 60FPS at 4K (or even 8K if you own a high-end GPU) on PC. As such, PC gamers can get a better experience than those who game on the Nintendo Switch console.
>> There is an over 8 minutes video comparing how the game runs on both emulators. As always, there are no links to the emulators nor to ROMs of the game.

Fallout: New Vegas Can Now Look Better With Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/fallout-new-vegas-can-now-look-better-with-screen-space-ambient-occlusion/
Fallout New Vegas fans, here is something for you today. Modder ‘Pr0bability’ has released a new mod for Fallout: New Vegas that adds support for Screen Space Ambient Occlusion. This mod is a must as it can make the game look better and less flat than before. For those wondering, Fallout: New Vegas does not support Ambient Occlusion. You could enable it via ENB, Reshade, or the NVIDIA CP. So, this isn’t something new to those of us who have experimented with them. For your average Joe, though, this is a mod they can use to get a better visual quality. Vanilla Plus AO is an xNVSE plugin and shader package that adds its own version of screen-space ambient occlusion (SSAO). Normally, shading only looks at the object being drawn and the main lights, like sunlight or lamps. Ambient occlusion helps show how light interacts between different objects. It makes the scene look more realistic and helps you see how far away things are and how they relate to each other. Vanilla Plus AO uses a screen-space solution. This means that the ambient occlusion cannot take into account geometry missing from the depth buffer – like outside the screen. In other words, it works like ENB, Reshade, or the NVIDIA CP. However, you can now have AO without the need to use another mod. In short, this mod is for those who only want AO in their game. That’s its purpose, and it does not make any other changes to it. Yes, some other visual mods also enabled AO. Still, purists may only want to use this specific feature, and nothing else.

New GTA 5 Enhanced Mod Enables Large Pedestrian Crowds
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/new-gta-5-enhanced-mod-enables-large-pedestrian-crowds/
Modder ‘XtremeV’ has released a new cool tool for Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced that enables large pedestrian crowds. Thanks to this mod, the city in GTA 5 will now feel more alive, dense, and in line with what you’d see in a modern-day open-world game.
Going into more details, this mod provides full customization of five features of GTA5’s Engine. These are the Main Heap Size, Resource Heap Size, Pool Heap Size, Ped Memory Budget, and Vehicle Memory Budget. XtremeTool allows you to assign more than 4 GB to each Heap.
The mod was developed and tested for the latest GTA5 Enhanced version on Steam. So, if you want to make the game feel more alive, you can go ahead and download it from this link.
To run it, the modder suggests having at least 8-16GB of RAM and 4GB of VRAM installed. If you run into performance issues, you should try lowering the ped amounts in the supplied popcycle.dat.

Forget the GTA 6 delay, one modder is quietly building an entire Grand Theft Auto multiverse inside GTA 5
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/grand-theft-auto/forget-the-gta-6-delay-one-modder-is-quietly-building-an-entire-grand-theft-auto-multiverse-inside-gta-5/
While Rockstar takes its time polishing GTA 6 into a neon sunbeam, one hobbyist modder has apparently decided to just make their own Grand Theft Multiverse instead. FV Mods, who evidently runs on a diet of caffeine and pure willpower, has now released a trilogy of giant map add-ons for GTA 5—effectively turning San Andreas into the world’s least coherent tourist atlas.
First came Oldburries, a fictional slice of rural Canada with farmland, pine woods and a town that feels like somewhere you’d accidentally end up while following bad sat-nav directions. Then came Largo Hillio, a national-park-meets-racing-circuit island stitched onto the map via a great suspension bridge. And finally, the European Freeway Project, an eight-lane stretch of pan-continental motorway.
“I just wanted to expand the world in ways Rockstar never will,” FV Mods explains on their Nexus Mods project page. “GTA 5 is 10 years old—but that doesn’t mean the map has to be.”
The best part? You can load all three at once and literally fly between them. GTA 5 becomes a kind of DIY flight simulator, except instead of airports you’re landing a stolen plane in a quiet Canadian town that has no idea why you’re there.
And crucially, it’s all incredibly earnest—a single creator slowly surrounding the original San Andreas with new landmasses until the map resembles a very confused holiday brochure. It’s the kind of modding energy that can only come from someone who heard “GTA 6 delayed” and took it personally.
>> Sadly, the article doesn’t have any media about the mods.

Fan community announces it will revive Unreal Tournament 2004 with Epic's blessing: 'We're doing this for free because we're fans of the game and we like a challenge'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/fan-community-announces-it-will-revive-unreal-tournament-2004-with-epics-blessing-were-doing-this-for-free-because-were-fans-of-the-game-and-we-like-a-challenge/
So-called boomer shooters make up a whole FPS subgenre now—but what about their multiplayer counterparts, the arena shooters of old? Most of them are ruled by diehard niches of expert players or straight-up unplayable today. Unreal Tournament 2004 has spent a long time somewhere between those two categories: it boasts a legendary albeit small modding scene but has been unavailable to buy on digital storefronts for years. As of this past week, though, that's set to change.
OldUnreal, the same fan community that Epic gave the greenlight to revive both the original Unreal and UT99, announced Wednesday on Discord that it's getting a similar chance to take custody of UT2004. You can read a transcription of the post in thread from roX1337 on the Unreal Tournament subreddit, which states "We are going to publish an installer that downloads the original disc image for UT2004, installs the game, and applies patches to it. We are also going to start publishing patches that modernize the game, make it compatible with Windows Vista or later, Linux x86-64 and aarch64 (Raspberry Pi and similar), and Mac OS 10.9 or later, fix bugs, and implement quality-of-life changes.
Yes, you read that right. UT2004 will soon be available to download once again. Free of charge. This is a community-run effort but we’re excited to make the game easier to access and play again."

Team Fortress 2 Classic is now Team Fortress 2 Classified, has been delayed to January 30: 'it wouldn't be an authentic TF2 experience without a bit of Valve time'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/team-fortress-2-classic-is-now-team-fortress-2-classified-has-been-delayed-to-january-30-it-wouldnt-be-an-authentic-tf2-experience-without-a-bit-of-valve-time/
The mod formerly known as Team Fortress 2 Classic was always slightly misnamed. It suggested a version of TF2 without the proliferation of cosmetics, a return to the readable silhouettes and basic weapons of its early days, and while it is that it's also a reimagining of TF2 that adds cut content and abandoned ideas from its early development. There's an escort mode with a playable civilian class, four-team modes, jump pads, new weapons like the nail gun, dynamite pack, and tranquilizer gun, and more.
But that's not the reason for its renaming. As the modders explained, "Valve requested a few months ago that we rename our mod, because the name Team Fortress 2 Classic was too similar to their Team Fortress Classic."
"We've learned that various other mods have recently used the word 'classic' in ways that unintentionally made them look like official Valve products, and as a result, Valve had a new policy put in place back in September."
Choosing a new name was "surprisingly difficult" both because they wanted a name that meant they could retain the TF2C abbreviation, and "it quickly became apparent that few options actually embodied what we set out to do better than 'classic' had. Despite disagreements over what 'classic' means, it has historically been a great way for us to set a standard for our mod's design, and has allowed us to maintain coherency between eras of development."
Now they've settled on Team Fortress 2 Classified, they've got another announcement to make: a delay. Where previously TF2C was planned to come out in 2025, it's now been pushed back to January 30, 2026.

There's a mod that lets you play Hades 1 in Hades 2
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/theres-a-mod-that-lets-you-play-hades-1-in-hades-2/
There's already so much to do in Hades 2 that after 100+ hours I haven't seen it all. (Voice and Vanity is the one prophecy I still need to complete, I'll get there.) If you, however, have run out of things to do, then here's some good news: you can replay all of the original Hades but as Melinoë, and with the combat and boons of Hades 2, thanks to a mod.
The Zagreus Journey mod adds a third option to your choice of how to leave the Crossroads, a Chaos Gate labeled "Descend into Nightmare". Jump inside and you'll be back in Tartarus, with all the old shades and traps to contend with, before working your way up through Asphodel, Elysium, and the Temple of Styx. Even the original game's soundtrack is carried over.
What isn't carried over is Zagreus himself, and so you'll be playing as Melinoë (and whichever familiar you bring), with one of her keepsakes equipped, and encountering the pantheon and earning the boons of Hades 2. The sequel's magic-heavy, dash-light combat seems to work commendably against the first game's enemies, though they have had their hit points and numbers buffed to keep them challenging when facing the kind of endgame builds you'll presumably be throwing at them.
One place Zagreus does still appear is in the conversations with bosses. These play out just as they did in the original, only with a ghostly Melinoë lurking behind Zagreus like a hot new meme format. Oh, and the Lernaean Bone Hydra's necks appear to be invisible, which is the one thing that doesn't transfer over cleanly from the original.
>> Sadly, there’s no media of the mod.
