Hopefully this is a teaser for Persona Q and Q2 remasters/remakes!

AMD has been loosing marketshare for years now.

Even when they had the better performing, cheaper, quieter AND more energy efficient product, they still lost.
Aka. Radeon 5870 era.

They really dropped the ball and marketshare once they started to rebadge Graphics Core Next every year starting in 2014... And AMD pricing RDNA to the same level as nVidia is just not moving products into peoples computers.

AMD also doesn't have the developer/advertiser budget or connections that nVidia does. (And nVidia has a history of strong-arming reviewers for favourable reviews... As outlined by Linus and GamersNexus troubles.)

The only saving grace for Radeon long-term is actually integrated graphics and consoles that will keep that segment buoyant.

Fact of the matter is, AMD needs to offer a GPU that is not only better than nVidia in -every single way- but it needs to be cheaper as well, which is a very difficult task to accomplish.

--::{PC Gaming Master Race}::--

All I can see is AMD losing out to mindshare and trying to make dirt cheap GPU's that are on par with Nvidia's "features", just means they still stand to lose out.

I just do not see them taking massive losses on sold hardware and pulling a gigachad Zeus move and striking Nvidia from the heavens with their omega level raw power and feature set, because they have neither of those, and in this current climate, why would you?, people clearly have no qualms paying top dollar (Some of you here had no issues going for 4090's for example) in Nvidia's market.

I can easily see Intel slowly gnawing away at AMD's value market, while Nvidia just continues unabated with their mindshare and band-aid tech (yes I know AMD has their own band-aid, but they aren't on Nvidia's level of extreme reliance on DLSS 3 and having to use fake frames).

We've reached a point where one company is extremely happy with their market share, so much so that they are now pandering to other markets and leaving their dominance to go stale in the corner. We've got another company that has no clue wtf it wants to do, but still wants to copy the leader's homework, and another company that's picking up the scraps of paper the former left behind, when they went to copy the leader's homework, that's basically our current market right now.

Just to point out, mindshare is quite easily a powerful tool. Take a look at Steam vs Epic vs GoG, and you'll see why Epic cannot be arsed at all to catch up to Steam's features, let alone GoG's 1 feature.

Steam has the biggest mindshare and pool of customers. Yes I care about Steam's features, because I know they are what they are (not like DLSS/FSR, that are literally slapping a band-aid to cover something worse), but I mostly use Steam because I know it's the most reliable, and the fact that it's been around for years and actually trying to do something.

Like Pem pointed out, AMD tried to do their best, it still wasn't enough. Epic tried putting in a shopping cart after all these years, did that help?, n, people are still just asking for free game handouts on Twitter instead.

Mindshare is stupidly powerful if executed and maintained correctly. Do not underestimate it compared to "well my Vacuum cleaner has this extra toggle feature!", because no one will care if the mindshare is stronger on the other side (Just like how Linux is catching up slowly, the majority of the planet still do not care, because Windows mindshare is stupidly huge and cannot be toppled).

Oh and for another random example that isn't tech related: I know someone in the art community who draws YCH (Your Character Here) slot pictures, and he charges thousands per slot taken, which sounds absolutely fucking insane to me, but hey, he's basically the "Apple" of that art community, and other people who draw more detailed and intricate pictures than him, only end up charging way, way less, because they quite frankly do not have the same level of mindshare that he has, let alone the commanding power to increase their prices to his level.

Mindshare is fucking big. I would never dream of trying to claim mindshare/feature parity being on the same level, because one can easily force the other to being ignored, no matter how good it may be.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

That's probably also the reason why Intel/AMD don't bother having Altera/Xilinx develop dedicated upscaling/ray tracing FPGAs for their GPUs. They could likely come up with industry-leading stuff in that regard but it simply wouldn't be worth the investment.

But maybe one of them still might in the chiplet era, I don't know.

Nightdive's kicking around the idea of an 'XCOM-like' System Shock that casts you as the Citadel's doomed resistance fighters against Shodan
https://www.pcgamer.com/nightdives-kicking-around-the-idea-of-an-xcom-like-system-shock-that-casts-you-as-the-citadels-doomed-resistance-fighters-against-shodan/
The System Shock remake is finally here, eight years after it was first announced, and Nightdive is already thinking about what it wants to do next with the series. It might not be what we expect, either: In a chat with TechRadar, Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick mulled over a few potential projects the studio could attach the System Shock name to, including a straightforward remake of System Shock 2 or, intriguingly, an XCOM-like strategy game set on Citadel Station.

Like a relentless horror movie monster, Friday the 13th: The Game is finally going to die, but very, very slowly
https://www.pcgamer.com/like-a-relentless-horror-movie-monster-friday-the-13th-the-game-is-finally-going-to-die-but-very-very-slowly/
Friday the 13th: The Game has been a lot like a horror movie monster: No matter what's been done to it over the years, it just will not die. But today publisher Gun Media announced that the end is finally in sight: The company's license will expire on December 31, at which time it will no longer be offered for sale, and at some point after that it will stop working completely.

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge getting dimension-hopping multiverse DLC starring a samurai rabbit
https://www.pcgamer.com/tmnt-shredders-revenge-getting-dimension-hopping-multiverse-dlc-starring-a-samurai-rabbit/
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge feels like the pinnacle of DotEmu's work so far, a colourful and joyous brawler that captured the spirit of Konami's arcade games, ladled on the fan-service, and was a co-op blast. Sure it relies heavily on nostalgia but, as Paul McCartney once sang, you'll be older too.

Nicolas Cage says he'll be 'fused' with Dead by Daylight players who play as him: 'I want you to know that we're one'

Finally, Mortal Kombat will let you team up Sub-Zero with Sub-Zero
https://www.pcgamer.com/finally-mortal-kombat-will-let-you-team-up-subzero-with-subzero/
If it wasn't clear already that Mortal Kombat 1 is going to be a big shake up for the series, Ed Boon casually dropping that Scorpion and Sub-Zero are brothers now was a big tip off. Riffing off the timeline-resetting ending of the previous game, the new game's narrative seems to be focusing back on classic versions of characters like Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Kitana, and Mileena, but remixing their storylines in new ways.

Capcom knows what the people want: Mecha Ryu punching a giant dino
https://www.pcgamer.com/capcom-knows-what-the-people-want-mecha-ryu-punching-a-giant-dino/
Capcom has announced the first of what's clearly intended as a long series of collaborations between its titles of the moment, and it's kicking things off with Street Fighter 6 and ExoPrimal. Eschewing any notion of getting fancy about this stuff, the short trailer gets right into it: Specifically, an exosuit version of Ryu punching and fireballing big dinosaurs.

Prince of Persia is coming back with a cartoony 2.5D platformer, and it's the 2003 throwback I didn't know I wanted
https://www.pcgamer.com/prince-of-persia-is-coming-back-with-a-cartoony-25d-platformer-and-its-the-2003-throwback-i-didnt-know-i-wanted/
There was a time when Ubisoft seemed defined more by whimsical, French comic book weirdness than generic open world blandness. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown looks like a throwback to that time, the days of Rayman, Beyond Good and Evil, or PoP series high water mark, The Sands of Time, and it's the last thing I expected to really wow me at Summer Game Fest.

Baldur's Gate 3 finally gave us a peek at the city itself, and I'm over the moon

As we inch toward Baldur's Gate 3's 1.0 release at the end of August, Larian has been sharing more looks of the game beyond its first act. Baldur's Gate 3's latest trailer at the Summer Game Fest finally showed us Larian's interpretation of Baldur's Gate itself, one of the iconic RPG cities, and the sight of some of my beloved old haunts in full 3D has me giddy.

Paradox is publishing a Star Trek grand strategy game and I am vibrating with anticipation
https://www.pcgamer.com/paradox-is-publishing-a-star-trek-grand-strategy-game-and-i-am-vibrating-with-anticipation/
Big Geoff's Summer Game Fest offered few surprises this year, but I definitely wasn't expecting to see a Star Trek grand strategy game published by Paradox. Star Trek: Infinite is being developed by Nimble Giant Entertainment, the studio behind the latest Master of Orion 4X, and is due this autumn.

Thank goodness Return to Moria looks good because honestly I was going to play the Lord of the Rings crafting game either way
https://www.pcgamer.com/thank-goodness-return-to-moria-looks-good-because-honestly-i-was-going-to-play-the-lord-of-the-rings-crafting-game-either-way/
Lord of the Rings games didn't get a great start this year with the ropey Gollum game but I'm feeling pretty optimistic about incoming crafting and survival game Return to Moria. Gollum was a weird pitch even when we first heard about it and I felt little surprise it landed flat. A dwarven crafting and base-building game set down in Khazad-dûm already felt like a way better fit, and the new combat and crafting laden trailer is keeping my hopes afloat.

"A small but wonderful slice" of Wizard with a Gun, an upcoming sandbox survival game whose name we've been appreciating for a couple years, is now available to try on Steam, developer Galvanic Games and publisher Devolver Digital announced at Devolver Direct today.

Baby Steps is a 'literal walking simulator' from Bennett Foddy that looks like QWOP-ing your way through Skyrim

Nate is an unemployed (and from the looks of it, unemployable) sad sack. He sprawls on the couch in his parent's basement in a grubby onesie, smoking weed and eating junk food, until his TV asks him "Are you still watching One Piece?"
But then Nate discovers an amazing power: walking. Transported to a mysterious, misty world, Nate must put one foot in front of the other—which is going to be harder than you might expect because Baby Steps is a "literal walking simulator" co-developed by Bennett Foddy, the person behind extremely difficult movement games QWOP and Getting Over It.

https://www.pcgamer.com/if-you-like-metaphysical-nonsense-and-weird-architecture-the-talos-principle-2-should-be-right-up-your-alley/
After years of silence, The Talos Principle 2 reappeared last month at the PlayStation Showcase, with a promise of an expanded game world, new types of puzzles, and—of course—"questions about the nature of the cosmos and the purpose of civilization." At tonight's Devolver Direct, we got a glimpse of what that will actually look like, and it is definitely different.

Well maybe cool your jets for a second, because a company called Upper Deck is taking its maker to court.

Horror story: As an actually good Friday the 13th game dies, another implacably rises
https://www.pcgamer.com/horror-story-as-an-actually-good-friday-the-13th-game-dies-another-implacably-rises/
This week brought the sad news that Friday the 13th: The Game, which has not had an easy ride of it over the years, is now ticking down the days until its closure. (...)
Then, just like the movies, Jason Voorhees will rise again. That's according to composer Harry Manfredini who, speaking to Rely on Horror, discussed a little about how he composed the music for the 2017 game ("modules of material" creating a unique score for each player) before revealing he's been hired to worked on another game in the iconic horror series. Manfredini has been the composer for Friday the 13th material ever since the original film, and it's only fair to describe his work as iconic within the slasher flick genre.

The new sonic game looks surprisingly better than I was expecting.

Lies of P so far looks very well optimized based on what I have seen on twitter. I might buy it when it comes out if they keep it up.

As usual, SE loves their Sony exclusivity. While it is coming to PC, I sadly won't be able to resist playing it on my ps5 as soon as it comes out.

Suffices to say, those stats aren't exactly good as $699 being accumulative sell through is very yikes. But it is also miss leading as Nvidia has only recently launched products under $700 with the 4070. Majority of the install base is also on GTX and only 18% are faster than 3060.
